Hi friends,
I took my GMAT yesterday and disappointed a little..My score was 620(Q-49/V-25).
Basically I am a non-native English speaker and a non-math student as well.Prepared nearly for 4 months, starting from 530 and landing on 620 in the real test.

But,first of all,I would like to tell u...practice tests are quiet deceptive. If your getting 700 consistently on practice tests..it does not mean that you are going to get 700 on the real test.Probably you may land on 620-660.(I experienced this with MGMAT tests).

My MGMAT scores are
test 1-580
test 2-640
test 3-670
test 4-680
test 5-660
test 6-730(2 days before gmat) :)

REAL GMAT-620

So,I'm planning to retake in the first week of sep... :)

THANX,
sukku

Seeing your mock tests if you were 100% sure of hitting a 700, then I think you slightly overestimated since you scored a 730 only in one mock exam. I feel your real score is definitely in correlation with your mock scores, probably a little less than if not exactly correlated.
Did you analyse all your tests? Were the correct answers, especially on the last test, just plain guesses or properly solved?

Also your GMATprep is the closest to the actual test and you wasted it by taking it without preparation. I think you can work on Verbal and hit a 700 with a retake. Just the way I feel!!

I had the exact same problem in my last GMAT attempt. I got a 720 on my GMATPrep2 and ended up getting only a 660 on the actual test. So, I have always felt GMATPrep is slight over estimation of your actual performance. You should assume that to do better next time. All the best!

While i haven't taken the MGMATs I've read in these forums that people usually score much better in the last MGMAT they take because if you've been scoring decently, you exhaust the question bank as all six tests pull from the same database of questions. The other MGMAT CAT scores are approximately grouped together at mid to high 600s. You scored just below 650 which I wouldn't say lies too far out of the standard deviation.

Plus, reset your GMAT prep and try them again. You probably forgot most of the answers so it'll be good practice. Especially Verbal which seems where you need to work on most.

Good luck on your next attempt. Like akhil says, you just have to bump up verbal a bit. Your Quant is already fantastic.

There is also variability from test to test (up to 50 points I have heard). Not to mention the mental strain of being at the test center and the added pressure (helps some people, hurts others).
