Ok, a lot can be done in two months.

First of all, remember that Forum Quiz contains questions from a lot of resources. Some might be worded weirdly or be a bit harder than on actual test.

For quant, I typically select the following Sources: Kaplan, Magoosh, Manhattan, Veritas. For CR I like to add LSAT to the list, some people use lsat books to prep for verbal.

If you want to stick to Forum Quiz, try going topic by topic at different levels of difficulty. For example, start with exponents 555-605 and move on to next lvl of difficulty when you get 80-90% accuracy out of 10 questions. You should be able to notice where you have foundational gaps or lack of understanding.

Then I would fill in those gaps with some prep course, it will be easier structurally. I think TTP is good for quant. I had some foundational gaps in Work problems, Probability and Combinations so I got TTP for 1 month and it helped me.

sritam00,
I have another 2 months to prepare.

Hey there,

How much time you have left to prepare?

sritam007
Hi, i have been giving sectional tests on the new adaptive forum quiz.

I am stuck at 50% accuracy over the last 2 weeks in all the sections. The tests were timed. (mostly around 555-705 level questions)

Please advise me on what should be the best way forward.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. I would recommend focusing more on specific topics that you are trying to improve rather than full sections.
Also, you are likely having 75% accuracy on easy, 50% on medium, and 25% on hard. Keep in mind that the strategies and approaches that work on Easy don't work on Hard questions and vice versa so there is value so to speak in being a master of all difficulties, so do not neglect the easy ones.

I assume you've covered all the core concepts and are now practicing for speed and accuracy?

The key thing here is to figure out WHY? in your accuracy issues:

1. Concept gaps
2. Missing advanced skills that are creating timing problems that hurt your accuracy
3. Lacking the test taking skills (reasoning methods) that the GMAT Focus demands

You can try to figure it our slowly using practice problems or you can take advantage of our free Diagnostic session with a GMAT Performance Coach:

- Precisely selected Q V and DI questions that expose gaps (especially in Test Taking and Advanced Skills)
- No selling. No obligation. No charges
- The insights always amaze test takers who take advantage of it.

Yes you are right. I have covered all concepts but still have some issues in certain areas. I have beeen able to disect them from my error log. They are mainly -

In PS -

1) Word problems - mainly fractions/ratios, percent ( unable to translate them into equations/ get stuck in equation maniputaions )
2) Exponents
3) Combinations and Probability
4) Min-Max

In DI -

1) DS
2) TPA

My next steps are -

1) I have been trying to tackle each concept and do all OG questions for next 5 days.
2) Take 10 questions quiz every day after the study hour to brush up.
3) Re-do the mistake of the previous day first thing every new day.

Please let me know your thoughts on the same.

Hi Scott,

I have not taken a mock test till now, I have been taking only sectional tests first to gauage my concept understanding and timing skill.

My target score is 705+

I am planning to take all GMAT club mocks and official GMAC mocks once I have a fixed my remaining conceptual issues in certain areas like word problems ( ratios, percents ), exponenets, combinations, probability, min-max, & TPA in data insights.

Let me know your thoughts on the same and would really appreciate your insights.

In addition to questions you get incorrect (e.g. after a practice set), reviewing those you get correct to see if there may have been shorter/easier ways to get to the correct answer choice may help a bit.
