Thanks a lot for your reply Rich!

Let me directly answer your questions:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?

I have studied for around 2 months, around 10 hours a week. So a total of 80 hours

2) What study materials have you used so far?

Only Manhattan Interact course, which i found very useful. off course i have all the hardcopy material too such as the OG2020 and all thier other books

3) When did you take that practice CAT/mock and what were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores?

I took the Mock test last Tuesday. my scaled scores were Q39 V26

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?

650 to 680 is my target

5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?

August 30

6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Right after August 30. Im planning to apply for any School in the Top 70 in the US, as it is a requirement for the for the free scholarship from our country Kuwait. I would say schools ranking from 40 to 70

Thanks again Rich!

Hi Mohammed,

To start, a 550 is a solid initial CAT score (the average score on the Official GMAT hovers around 550 most years). The type of studying that you will need to do going forward will depend on a number of factors, including your Score Goal. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) When did you take that practice CAT/mock and what were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi Mohammed,

Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so if you have studied for around 2 months, then you might naturally improve as you continue to study. That having been said, raising a 550 to the point that you can consistently score 650+ will likely require at least another 2 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

With a planned Test Date in late August, you still have plenty of time to continue to study and improve - which is great. The OG books are great sources for practice questions, but they're not designed to teach you Tactics, patterns or the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT - for those, you'll need to focus on Course-oriented materials.

1) Did you complete the course that you mentioned? If not, how much of the course did you complete?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi Mohammed,

Given your current score and your score goal, you likely need to continue to learn both GMAT quant and verbal prior to diving into doing random practice problems. In fact, an ideal way to approach your study plan would be to learn linearly such that you learn each GMAT quant and verbal topic individually, and then practice each topic until you’ve gained mastery. Regarding your study plan, most self-study courses actually contain study plans that you should be able to tailor to your timeline. Have you considered using a self-study course?
