I work as a Marine Engineer on ship. I’ve completed my B.E. Marine frm M.E.
R.I. Kolkata. I have over 6 years of Work experience working onboard. I have worked with different nationalities.
Travelled 24 countries across 4 continents.
My job profile includes operation and maintenance of various machines (Diesel Engines, Boilers, Steam Turbines, Pumps, etc) on board , carrying out routine cargo watches during loading and unloading of cargo , taking care (inventory management ) of spares worth of million usd . I am a safety representative onboard whose job is to comply the rules of ISM code and present the safety related issues of the crew before the management.
An MBA will give me intrusive exposure to all the major business functional areas to enable my corporate foray – from strategy and production to operations and organizational behavior. The oil and gas industry has a lot of opportunities for people with industry experience. I wanted to couple the industry experience I have gained over the years with the necessary qualification to help myself gain entry into the corporate scenario.

Hey dude!
Very good to hear from you.
Now you certainly have some good work experience, and stuff in your profile but I have two main pieces of advice.
1. Understand what an MBA is about - it is about LEADERSHIP in business. What that means is that when you present your prior work 95% of what you have done is IRRELEVANT!!!! What you need to do if you want to create a stellar profile is focus on that last 5% that is really leadership and business oriented. You need to tell the story of what you have done, and connect it to the leadership you want to do.
2. As an Indian candidate, getting the highest possible GMAT is vital to your success. If you feel like you can do better, I would highly suggest you consider retaking the GMAT. Have a look at this article about Indians retaking the GMAT: https://admissionado.com/mba/the-tuesday ... n=mba_blog
Other than that, you may want to look into schools that have an Oil and Gas focus, like Rice and McCombs in the US for example.
