please help

Question

I started Gmat preperation 3 months back.I started by giving GMAT Prep test and scored 680(50-Q,31-Verbal).With in these three months i completed Manhattan SC,power score CR.One week before my actual GMAT i gave two more official GMAT prep tests.I scored 730 and 670.But could manage to get 660 in actual GMAT.49-Q,31-V.
I am very much convinced that all my self studies did not help me. My main problem in verbal is speed and on the actual GMAT day it got worse.
Please suggest what should i do....
Iam planning to retake the GMAT.can anyone help me.What should be my strategy time this to improve atleast 7-8 points in verbal.

Do you know which questions in the verbal section you have a tough time with? You may want to focus on those types of question when you start prepping. If you already know which questions you have a tough time on, let me know, and I can try and provide some additional tips for you.

To be true,I actually dont know...but yes my RCs are never more than 50 % correct.SC seems little bit easy to me but i take 2 mins to solve even SC problems.CR sometimes seems ok and sometimes i am completely screwed but even ever i read answers i always feel that i just missed it.

Hi alok,

You may want to take a couple of simulation tests to see if you can identify any more specific patterns. The thread that bb linked you to (how to improve verbal) is a helpful thread, so take a look at that as well!

With regards to RC questions, our tutors recommend that you alter your approach to reading passages. Instead of reading the passages to simply absorb the material, you should also have an active approach when reading. Ask yourself the following questions when reading the RC passages:

What is the main idea of this passage?
What is the author's position and tone?
What is the structure of the argument?

Start reading publications such as the NY Times, Businessweek, the Economist. Read the oped section, as they often use a language level similar with and are about the same length as the GMAT RC questions.
