My answer is  (E) . It took me 01:28.

(AB) are eliminated because "increasing global  demand  for animal horns, skins, and hides" is singular and does not agree with "are".

(C) With rare exceptions, GMAT questions does not take "like" as substitute for "such as". It is hoped that new generation of GMAT test writers honor this tradition.

(D) "with" should be "despite" to convey meaningful logic.

such as requires the use of comma. also didn't fix issue in A

fixed subject verb disagreement, however, in GMAT the word like is strictly used for comparisons, not for introducing examples.

conveys the contradictory meaning that increasing increasing global demand for animal horns etc is the result of the measures taken, such as awareness programs etc.
