IMO C

Statement 1: Of the 60 books on Beth’s bookshelf, 15 are novels.
This statement alone does not provide any information about the number of poetry books. Without knowing the number of poetry books, we cannot determine the percentage of poetry books on Beth's bookshelf.
(1) is not sufficient

Statement 2: There are 12 poetry books on Beth’s bookshelf.
This statement provides the number of poetry books on Beth's bookshelf but doesn't give the total number of books. Without the total number of books, we cannot calculate the percentage of poetry books.
(2) is not sufficient

Combining the two statements: - From statement 1, we know there are 60 books in total.
                                                     -From statement 2, we know there are 12 poetry books. 

                 % poetry books = \(\frac{12}{60}\) * 100 = 20%

     (1) and (2) together are sufficient. Option C is the Answer

(2) There are 12 poetry books on Beth’s bookshelf.

1. Statement A alone is insufficient as it talks about 15 novels.

2. Statement B does not provide much information.

IMO the correct answer should be C

­It seems you misunderstood the first statement, as it fails to specify if there are only tow types of books ( Novels and Poetry), hence the first statement is also insufficient, where as if we put both statements together, it gives us the answer hence it is C.

­Thank you so much for the correction. I just failed to consider that it has not been mentioned in the first statement that only two types of books are available. So, yes the correct answer should be C. I would edit my original post.
