Unfortunately, I was unable to start my exam even after more than 60 minutes past my initial 10:00 AM appointed time due to technical difficulties. Below is a detailed timeline of what occurred:
9:45 AM: I entered the exam room and met with the proctor to follow the necessary instructions to begin the test. We spent approximately 30 to 40 minutes trying to unlock the required permissions. I found the multiple attempts for the
Goto Application accessibility control to be unnecessarily stressful, which drained my energy and time before the test.
Once the proctor managed to unlock the "Begin the Exam" screen, we encountered another issue. A "LockDown Browser OEM" pop-up prompted the next steps, and the proctor instructed me to click the button to quit all other applications, which included disconnecting my Goto Meeting. I did not realize this during my first attempt and ended up starting the test without a camera and microphone connection.
About 10 minutes into the exam, the proctor paused my test because of the camera and microphone disconnected and because the lockdown configuration caused my screen to freeze, preventing me from clicking on anything. Realizing I could not proceed, I checked my phone and saw several missed calls from her. I answered the call and followed her instructions to restart my laptop.
After restarting, I followed the instructions again and faced the same "LockDown Browser OEM" pop-up, the proctor asking me to quit all other applications, including Goto Meeting, for a second time. Unfortunately, my screen froze again. At this point, over 60 minutes had passed, and I felt I was no longer in the right mental state to take the test. I requested to reschedule the exam, and the proctor advised me to email GMAT for assistance.
Does anyone else have experience with this situation and successfully retake the exam without paying an additional fee?
