% complete, points = % complete* % points
40% = x% * (1 - % complete, don't get points)
40% = x% * 50%
2/5 = x% * 1/2
x% = 80% = % complete

therefore, % don't complete = 100-80 = 20%

You could set up a table with Completes/Does Not Complete and Points/No Points. To make it easier, assume that there are 100 students total.



Since 40 + 0.5x has to equal x, 40 must be the other 0.5x. Therefore, x = 80.

Going across the bottom row, you get that 80 + Not Complete = 100, so the answer is (E) 20%.
