In the figure above, what is the area of semicircle DPA?
(1) The area of quadrilateral ABCD is 140.
(2) The length of the line segment whose endpoints are B and D is 25.

We somehow need to find the diameter or radius of the semi-circle so that we can find the area.
(1) The area of quadrilateral ABCD is 140.
16*7=112 will give us the area of the square carved within the quadrilateral ABCD .
Since we know that remaining area of triangle will be 140-112 = 28, we can easily find the measurement of the diameter using the formula of area of triangle.
1/2*(b)*7=28
b=8
So, diameter of semi-circle will be 16+8=24
Hence we can find the area of semi-circle.
(A) is sufficient
(2) The length of the line segment whose endpoints are B and D is 25.
Using pythagoras theorem, the diameter of semi-circle can be found. This will be 24.
Hence, (B) is sufficient.

Dear but how do you know BC parallel to AD . So A is insufficient so answer must be B
