In the figure above, D is the center of the circle, and DE is parallel to AB. If the radius of the circle is 4, what is the length of line segment AB?
A. 4√2
B. 6
C. 4+3√2
D. 8
E. 6√2

Clearly, the sides DE and AB are parallel to each other. So that make them similar triangles as both have a common vertex C.
Now, radius of the circle is 4, so DC=DE= 4. So the ratios of the similar sides will be equal.
DC/DE = CA/AB. 4/4 = 8/x( 8 is the diameter of the circle). Clearly the ratio is 1:1. So the value of x is 8 as well.
D is the answer.

can be solved using mid point theorem
when line passes through the mid point of triangle and is parallel to third side then is half of it and vice versa
For above
D is mid point of AC and is parallel to AB
DE/AB= CD/AC
4/AB = 4/8
hence AB = 2*DE = 8
Ans D
