Why is option C incorrect
C says:

Hyundai's frames are built to last and they have.

They have what? They have lasted; they have been lasting or something else?

In general, we are allowed to use ellipsis ("assume" words), only when there is no element of ambiguity in terms of interpretation.

Also note that "do" (in correct option B) is a proper "verb". It is interesting to note that do/does/did can stand for the main verb in the sentence: the main verb can be in any tense, but do/does depict the main verb in "simple present" tense, while did depicts the main verb in "simple past" tense.

By the way, the sentence under consideration seems to have been inspired by this official question.

p.s. Our book EducationAisle Sentence Correction Nirvana discusses this property of "to do" forms of the verb. Have attached the corresponding section of the book, for your reference.

Explanation please ? Why C is not the answer ?

Hello Sejal16,

We hope this finds you well.

Having gone through the question and your query, we believe we can resolve your doubt.

As EducationAisle has written, ellipses can only be used when there is no sense of ambiguity and the omitted verb has already appeared in the sentence.

Further, Option C also appears to use the present perfect tense verb "have (lasted)" to refer to a habitual action or information that is permanent in nature; remember, habitual actions and information that is permanent in nature are best conveyed through the simple present tense, and the present perfect tense (marked by the use of the helping verb “has/have”) is used to describe events that concluded in the past but continue to affect the present.

To understand the concept of "Simple Tenses" on GMAT, you may want to watch the following video (~1 minute):

All the best!
