Hi everyone, I am Bulgan from Mongolia!
Yesterday, I retook GMAT Focus and got 715 (Q88, V84, DI84)! My target score was 695 or 705. I am so happy that I even got higher than my target score! My first attempt was in May when I scored 665 (Q84 V83 DI82). Math is usually my strongest area, so I thought it would be most effective to work on refreshing/relearning the quant. After my first attempt, I relaxed for almost 2 months after which I mostly focused on my quant. During my break, I was also thinking of just applying with my 665 but decided to give GMAT Focus and myself another go. It was mostly because top universities' median was around 695.
So here is how I generally prepared: I read all theories in "Ultimate GMAT Quantitative Preparation Guide" (https://gmatclub.com/forum/ultimate-gma ... l#p1886497) and took all 6 official mock exams twice (you can take each Official Mocks twice without almost any questions repeating). On my leisure times, I also used to work random +705 quant questions on GMATCLUB mobile app. In terms of hours, I estimate that I've spent around 15-20 hours per week since mid July to Oct 8 (I just rested and watched Shogun on a day before the exam).
I also noticed a huge improvement in my overall reading comprehension and speed after I started reading Financial Times, NYTIMES and Scientific American in the mornings for almost 2 hours everyday. I made this morning reading my habit since Feb this year. Not only it helped me to improve my reading but also really increased my overall knowledge about what is going on around the world, politics, economics. (also I really love "Well" section of Nytimes!) Also, I would say Scientific American articles are very similar to those in GMAT! I also followed MartyMurray on gmatclub and received notification everytime he posts. He usually posts explanation to critical reasoning questions. I always worked on them and read its explanation every time I got the notification. It is pretty convenient to work on them from mobile app.
Regarding the DI, I just practiced it when I took mock exams. Strong quant and verbal skills are essential for DI. Also, don't forget to take the opportunity to use the built-in calculator when comparing those bar charts or anything which would take some calculations.
