Set K= the number of expensive suits and L
=the number of cheaper suits

If you change the price of the expensive suit from $599 to $600 and the cheaper suit from 299 to 300 then you would have one more K and one more L:

K+L+16460=300(2K+L)

What multiple of 300 is close to 16460 ?

55 works equaling $16,500 when multiplied by 300. We know we can't use anything greater than 55, for example 56, because using 56 generates $16,800 on the right meaning k + l on the left has to equal 340 obviously in conflict with 2K+L equaling 56. We also can't use anything less than 55 because that would make the right side less than 16460 which can't be the case.

That means that K + L on the left must equal 40

So now we have two equations in two unknowns:

2K+L=55
K+L=40

Subtract the bottom from the top:

K=15 and so L = 25

25/40=62.5%

299a + 599b = 16460
(300-1)a + (600-1)b = 16460
300a+600b=16460+(a+b)

Because the left side has two zeros at the end, the right side will also have two zeros at the end.
So, a + b = 40 (as a + b = 140, or other numbers will be too high to match)
a=40-b

300(40-b) + 600b = 16500
40-b + 2b = 55
=> b=15
=>a=25

%a=(25/40)*100 = 62.5%
