As no more than 1 biscuit can be selected from a single box, you need to technically select 3 boxes out of 5 i.e. selecting 3 boxes and picking 1 biscuit from each. So, number of ways of selecting 3 boxes out of 5 = 5C3 = 5*4/2 = 10. Now, in each of those 3 boxes, you have 3 biscuits out of which you need to pick 1. So, number of ways of selecting 1 biscuit from each box containing 3 biscuits = 3 ways. This you combine for all 3 i.e. if each of the 3 boxex has biscuits named a, b, c then you can select: aaa,aab,aba,baa.... (combination i.e. 3*3*3 = 27) So, total ways = 10*27 =270.

In short: 5C3 * 3^3
