Hi everyone! I am starting on GMAT prep and due to some reasons I didn’t get time to prep earlier and have a narrow 2 month margin. I intend to take GMAT after that time. I have to start the prep. Which source would you suggest ? Also is there need to buy official GMAT prep materials ? Thanks

Hey what has worked for you

Egmat says you should pre think
Ttp say you should not do that

Some say you read the argument first because then you will be focused completely on
understanding the argument rather than competing it with the question stem

Some say you should read the question stem first and the you should read the argument as you will have in mind what exactly is you know while reading the argument

What works the best? : I have been following egmat but i dont get right after pre thinking but as I’m done with completely understanding the argument 200% and as I move to answer choice I’m able to eliminate wrong answer and able to find right based on the argument and the question stem

What have worked best for you?
Personally, I think pre-thinking only helps if your English isn’t strong. For me, it just made my answers less accurate. If you’ve got a solid English base and already get the structure of arguments, sometimes trying to pre-think the answer before looking at the choices can lock you into a specific assumption. Then, if the right answer isn’t phrased how you expected—or takes a slightly different angle—you might miss it, even if you would have picked it had you just read cleanly.

I would recommend to get TTP if you have around 2 months dedicated for prepration

I used the Kaplan approach and they recommended for their strategy to answer questions in your own words and for easy and medium critical reasoning questions it makes answering them a lot faster and a lot more accurate for me. I would spend on average a minute to minutes and a half per critical reasoning question.

Now, it doesn’t work for hard questions but if I answer the questioning my own words and then realize that my answer doesn’t match, all I have to do is just answer it normally by evaluating every single answer, Which ends up wasting probably 15 or 30 seconds but the time I gained from all the easy medium questions makes this waste worthwhile on hard questions.

Keep in mind, answering questions in your own words requires practice and it won’t work right away and as several people mentioned, it can be hard but in my opinion, it’s worth trying it

Can someone help me with rc passages when i read carefully i got most of the answers right but it takes too much time and when i skim the passage i got most of the answers wrong can someone suggest me what to do
Skim in a way that you know exactly where the specific information required in the question is written and that you understand the meaning of the passage.

There is no trick to RC/CR. The more you practice, the better you get.

For the RC, I could not get comfortable with skimming so I used the careful reading with taking notes, and stopping summarizing each paragraph. RC was slow. However, as I used the "answer CR in your own words" approach, that saved me 30-45 secs per CR and then I applied that time to RC .... got 96th percentile in Verbal.

🎓 [TTP On Demand Account Sharing/Transfer Offer]
Hi everyone! I currently have a TTP On Demand account with about 4 months of access remaining. Due to a change in my schedule, I’m not using it much and would love to share it or transfer it to someone who could benefit from it.

If you’re interested, feel free to message me directly. We can work out the details together in a way that’s fair and secure for both sides.
Thanks!
