Why c is right?....as we know may be price is high to produce such detergent than other detergent and eventually selling price will be high than other detergent for customers...and they are not buying due to high price

In many surveys, American consumers have expressed a willingness to spend up to 10 percent more for products that are ecologically sound. Encouraged by such surveys, Bleach-O Corporation promoted a new laundry detergent, Bleach-O Green, as safer for the environment. Bleach-O Green cost 5 percent more than typical detergents. After one year, Bleach-O Green had failed to capture a significant share of the detergent market and was withdrawn from sale.

Which of the following questions is LEAST likely to be relevant in determining the reasons for the failure of Bleach-O Green?

(A) How effective as a detergent was Bleach-O Green?

(B) How many other detergents on the market were promoted as safe for the environment?

(C) How much more did Bleach-O Green cost to manufacture than ordinary detergents?

(D) To what extent did consumers accept the validity of Bleach-O Green advertised and promoted to consumers?

(E) How effectively was Bleach-O Green advertised and promoted to consumers?

In C) the cost of manufacturing is still affecting the prize for the consumers, and therefore the market share. So i dont find this a perfect answer. But all the other answers have a more direct correlation to the market, so C) stands out a little bit. Thats why i chose it.

Corporation lost the share in the market and withdrawn from sale. Hence C is the correct answer as customer is not worried manufacture cost of Bleach-o or other corporation.

C is the answer. "Cost to manufacture" is likely to be the least relevant factor here: Bleach-O Green costs 5 percent more than typical detergents, and consumers had expressed a willingness to spend up to 10 percent more for products that are ecologically sound.

Answer C is discussing cost of production of Bleach-O Green compared to ordinary detergent, which is out of scope. Consumers do not base their purchase decision on cost but on price.
but obviously price is affected by the cost and if cost is higher then price will be higher too

The Answer would be "C" as its clear from the paragraph that the brand launched their new detergent so if they launched the new detergent they there are very less chance that the manufacturing cost would be a problem hence "C"

After one year, Bleach-O Green had failed to capture a significant share of the detergent market and was withdrawn from sale.

Which of the following questions is LEAST likely to be relevant in determining the reasons for the failure of Bleach-O Green?

(A) How effective as a detergent was Bleach-O Green?- Relevant. Whether product is working properly in the sense that main purpose is fulfilled or not. If detergent is not effective in washing clothes, then it will be one of the reasons to fail.

(B) How many other detergents on the market were promoted as safe for the environment?- Relevant. If other detergents in the competitive market are there then they might as well have huge market share or competitive edge than the Bleach O Green.

(C) How much more did Bleach-O Green cost to manufacture than ordinary detergents?- Irrelevant. Already mentioned in the question, as per the survey, consumers are willing to spend 10% higher for ecological products. And, it is mentioned that the product is only 5% higher. So, failing because of price point doesn't make sence.

(D) To what extent did consumers accept the validity of Bleach-O Green advertised and promoted to consumers?- Relevant. If company is able to market its product to target consumers or not. If not, then it is bound to fail.

(E) How effectively was Bleach-O Green advertised and promoted to consumers?- Relevant. Same as point D.

You are missing one point i.e., whatever may be the cost of production still they are selling at 5% higher price which is less than the expected amount that customers are willing to pay. So the problem is not the cost here but the viability of the powder.

Option C could be the best option to choose because it is 5% more expensive than other detergents and people may not be aware of its benefits.
