Problems in DI and quant

Question

Despite four to five months of preparation, I haven't been able to translate my studying efforts into the GMAT scores I'm aiming for. My practice exam scores have been inconsistent and horrendous , fluctuating between 555 and 635."

I’m scoring between 80-84 in verbal but quant and DI really dragging me down

When I see questions pop up in quant they seem unfamiliar ( don’t recognize what concept to apply ) and take up tons of my time. I’m scoring around 78-82 in quant . Btw I haven’t solved questions from official gmat guide.

And lastly DI results are just alarming. So many silly mistakes and misinterpreting the questions.

Any tips and suggestions will be appreciated! My target score is 655 minimum and wanna retake the test in short time.

Would suggest using Forum Quiz with various difficulty level questions, increasing the difficulty level of the questions as you start getting easier questions correct.

For DI, practice from OG. For first time, practice untimed quizzes (20 questions) and when you have forgotten the answers, practice the same questions again timed (20 questions). 
For Quant, you could either use OG for easier to medium level questions. For higher level questions, go for GMAT CLUB FORUM QUIZ or GMAT CLUB TESTS. You can try giving quant sectional tests everyday.

Hi Acdc1,

When students struggle with DI questions, the first thing I always ask is whether they have fully completed their quant and verbal prep. Not doing so can really affect how well you handle DI questions, as many of those questions involve quantitative and verbal concepts. So, would you say you are in that boat?

In addition, one way to improve each individual DI question type is to engage in topical practice. Doing so lets you pinpoint your weak areas in JUST ONE question type. For example, when practicing TPA questions, perhaps you see a pattern that you struggle with 3-part ratios or weighted averages. If you can find those micro weaknesses, you can fix them in real-time and thus improve your accuracy in DI questions..

Lastly, when working on DI questions, for the time being, make sure to practice them untimed so you can focus on JUST accuracy. As you become more familiar with these question types and get more accurate, better timing will follow.
