You need that for the essential modifier. So you can get rid of B and E. C changes the level of certainty and thats gone too.
As for A vs C. Even tough is a subordinating conjunction that used for a dependent clause,while Despite is a preposition.
C is wrong because of the way Despite is used. You wouldnt say Despite I like x, I like y better. You would say Even though I like y, I like y better
although > despite. I think GMAT prefers although. does anyone agree?
