Ank, if you want to have a real shot at Top 20 schools you would need to obtain at least a 710 and for Top10 probably a 740. It's totally normal to study for the GMAT anywhere from 3-6 months, so you shouldn't worry that you are only at 650 after 1 week. Actually, that's pretty good!

So for now, I would say: Just keep working on it.
I'm sure you will get it.

Best,
JF

Dear Ashish,
Most excellent to hear from you!
That is a miiiiighty fine GMAT you got there! Congratulations!
And your recent job and family business does seem very promising!

But before I jump into my evaluation I'd love to know more about the family business - how big is it? How many employees? What's the annual turnover? What's your market share? What's your niche? and where do you see the future of the company?

Why do I ask this? Because this is EXACTLY what your B-school will want to know. And they will also use the business size to "valuate" your profile.

Also a personal question: are you the future inheritor of the family business?

It can make a difference!

Best,
