1) Brief description of your full-time work experience. What do you do?
I dropped out of college for a semester to join a presidential campaign in a field office management role. After graduating college I started working at McKinsey (2 years). I then went to join an innovation unit within the UN, whose goal is to accelerate technology development in emerging markets to improve the lives of the poor
2) Your GMAT.
730 (45Q, 45V, 8IR -- 63rd percentile, 99th percentile, 92nd percentile)
3) College info: The name of the college, your GPA or grade average, your major, year of graduation. For any graduate degrees, please provide the same info. If you grades are low, please indicate if there were extenuating circumstances.
Top 10 Liberal Arts College, double majored in Government and Economics. Grad year 2011 (in 3.5 years, with the semester taken off for the campaign)
Cumulative GPA: 3.75
GPA sophomore - senior years: 3.88
4) Significant college and post-college extra-curricular activities or community service, especially leadership experience.
*Community Service Coordinator for college
*Web editor of school paper
*Leadership positions with state and national political party chapters (e.g., Finance Director, Young Republicans of America)

Hi there,
Thanks for posting and sharing your situation and profile. You have a lot of strengths based on the info you've shared, including strong GMAT & GPA, experience at McKinsey as well as the experience with technology development in emerging markets at the UN, as well as other community/activity leadership experiences. You've got a strong starting point for consideration by Stanford I would say; but it's important to keep in mind that they are the most selective program out there, with a smaller class size than say Harvard or Wharton contributing to that selectivity of sometimes less than 7% of applicants-- so they do turn away a LOT of well-qualified applicants. Just good to keep in mind. It may come down to how you tell and show your story in your app and essays, and supported by recommendations. One side note-- while starting your own company is a common goal and makes sense for post-MBA plans, starting it IMMEDIATELY out of school is often tough and schools know that and may want to ensure your goals are realistic, just something to think about as well. In general with strong apps/essays I would think you could be considered at top global programs though.
