Hi there!

Your reasons for doing a part-time program make a lot of sense, and you're lucky to have so many great options in the Chicago area! I really like the analytical nature of your work and your very fast progression. Hopefully that means your recommendation letters will be very strong.

The strength of experience definitely can outweigh the length. That's why most schools don't have any minimum requirements, because every applicant is different. So if you've got strong leadership and results/accomplishments you can point to, then I would not worry too much about the length. 3 years is definitely within range. And yes, I do think you've got a shot at the three programs you mentioned. Booth's average GMAT is the highest of the three, so your score could be more of an issue there, but hopefully the analytical nature of your work will help outweigh that. I worked with someone who was also an early-career applicant with a similar score who was accepted to Kellogg's part-time program. Obviously every candidate is different but based on that, I would definitely give it a shot!

Good luck, and keep us posted if we can help with anything else.
Kate

Good Morning! I'd love to hear how my profile stacks up, I'm not necessarily sure where to consider given that it's an unusual one.

3 Yrs Work experience, 2 promotions (likely 3 by the time I matriculate), from Junior Business Analyst to Analytics Supervisor. I had a team of 3 analysts reporting to me less than 2 years after graduation, at a national company. Experience includes helping make decisions within our Sales Department and consistent direct contact with executive leadership on a daily basis (report to EVP of Sales). I think I'm a really strong interview as well, for what it's worth.

GMAT Score was 660. GPA at Urbana-Champaign was 3.25, Economics Major, graduated in 3.5 years.

I'm applying to a variety of Part Time Programs that are within driving distance of the Chicago area. I want to be able to keep my job here as it's been very good to me, and I feel there's a lot of opportunity for growth still to be had, plus I feel like an important member of the company at only 24 yrs old (again, promoted to manager at 23).

My question is this: I know I'm on the early end of applying to MBA Programs, but does the strength of the experience at all outweigh the length in any way? I feel like I've gotten experience in 3 years that some don't get until they're 6 years into their career. That is why I want to embark on my MBA journey early.

Also, do I have any shot at Kellogg, Ross, or Booth (Part Time)? :)

Need any more info let me know. Thanks!!

Kate - thanks a ton for the quick response. Exciting to embark on the journey and your affirmation makes me feel a LOT better. I'll keep you posted!!

- Matt
