Hello ,
I am working as Senior Staff Engineer with Aker Solutions in Norway. I am a 32 year old Piping engineer. I have limited management experience as most of my experience is engineering and CAD design.I am an Indian citizen and a Norwegian Permanent Resident with 11 years of work experience(4 years International - UK and Norway). I have droped out of an Advanced Post graduate Diploma in Renewable Energy(in distance mode) from TERI due to logistic reasons as I have moved to Norway during the course. I have an A+ in the first year of that course. I have an undergraduate percentage of 70 from my mechanical engineering degree
and a GMAT score of 700. I don't have much extra curricular activities in the past two years. But before that I was involved in a few NGOs in a volunteer capacity.

My post MBA goal would be to move into middle managerial with business strategy / business development in an engineering/energy company.
I am not planning to switch the sector but trying to steepen my career progression curve. I am trying to move into North American / Canadian Market in view of higher purchasing parity. I am married.

How good is my profile and what schools should I target ?

University of Texas-Austin McCombs School of Business
Rice University Jones School of Business

There are others nationally like Michigan, Duke, and Berkeley, but they'll be much more competitive and take you out of the region you're trying to get into. I would really look at Texas and Rice.

Why not try to find a job in your target region then pursue a part time or executive MBA if you're not trying to switch careers?

Remember, getting a work VISA for the US or Canada is extremely difficult. Probably 90% of the international students in my class ended up returning to their home country.

Ask yourself this: why hire an international student when it's still a slow job economy and there are plenty of locally-based US students who will be quite qualified and not require the paperwork to get an international working in the firm?
