Hello All,
I would really appreciate if somebody could evaluate my profile:
GMAT : 700
Work Experience: 3 years at the time of application as a Design Engineer in USA
Education: MS Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State and BE Mechanical from Manipal Institute of Technology
GPA: 3.8/4 in MS and 7.5/10 in BE
Dream Schools: ISB, SP Jain, INSEAD, HEC Paris
To summarize my current role, I work in an Architectural Engineering firm as a part of a team which comes up with design solutions for clients. Our clients include Ford, GM, Fiat Chyrsler and many more automative companies and hospitals. It involves a lot of inter-disciplinary coordination and client interaction on a daily basis. I worked on a similar role for 2 years in my previous company which was a Fortune 500 firm with close to 100,000 employees. My current firm has around 1000 employees.
My career goal after graduation is to transition into Consulting role for a Technology, Engineering or Infrastructure company.
I am also involved in volunteering hours for my local community.

Hi Abhishek1292,
You have a good profile.
1. The schools look at your academic potential ( your BTech, Mtech and GMAT Score will help here).
2. They will evaluate your career progression: As I understand though the role is a similar one, you have more experience interacting with clients now. If you are looking at larger projects ( big account clients) it is an additional advantage.
3. With respect to the schools you are applying to ISB, SP Jain, HEC Paris would be in your reach category. However, INSEAD might be a stretch considering the kind of profiles applying to these schools.
You might want to work on improving your GMAT Score if INSEAD is one of your top choices. You could check this blog https://bit.ly/2Yt7BcV that focuses on the top traits B-Schools look for in a candidate.

Admissions committees will focus on your stats, work experience, and extracurriculars.
Your GPA’s are strong, and your GMAT is also strong, though compared to others in your demographic, it is below the average. If you haven’t already, I suggest taking it up to 3-4 times. You have nothing to lose since schools will only look at your highest score.
Regarding your experience, the average work experience is closer to 5 years, so if you choose to apply with fewer years, make sure you demonstrate why now is the time. And because of your lighter experience, it’s even more important to show you have made an impact and demonstrated leadership there. Ideally this will be supported by a strong recommendation letters as well. It will also be important to explain why you want your MBA, and to also illustrate the skills you already have which are transferable to a consulting role. Be sure your story makes sense, and is realistic and specific.
Regarding extracurriculars, it is good you have been volunteering; make sure to emphasize your leadership roles there.
The schools you mentioned, especially INSEAD, are definitely competitive, and are a bit of a reach. So I suggest apply to other schools as well. However, if you can continue to strengthen your profile – via work experiences and an increased GMAT – hopefully your choices will see that you have a differentiated story to share and to bring to the school!
