Hi there,

Thanks for your post. (Side note-- mbaaspirant etc above's response is not affiliated with mbaMission, just a heads up!). You said you 'live in Ukraine', I assume that is where you are from originally? Just getting a sense of your nationality since schools are interested in a diverse class on many different levels.

A few things to keep in mind...

-Harvard will be a big reach for you, and for most applicants to be honest... they get over 10k applications per year, and accept only around 10% give or take... they turn away TONS of amazing applicants who are qualified every season. It doesn't mean don't try.... but you should know what the reality is going into the process and decide what makes sense for you.

-You will need/want a high GMAT score no matter what... even for schools in the top 50 to be honest!! Especially top 20/30 or so, and especially for any chance of scholarship. So definitely work hard on that preparation!

-That said the GMAT will not really get you 'in' so to speak.. they will look closely at all the info you share about your life, professionally first and foremost but also personally and in the community. Many factors can make an impact. Professionally for you I'd say your priorities are 1- see what additional examples of LEADERSHIP you can gain and/or highlight, and 2- make sure you work on your overall story of WHY the MBA is right for you, and why now etc. An additional year of experience could wind up helping with both of those fyi.

Keep in touch on how things go and let us know how we can help in the future; good luck!

Hi Jen, thanks for the reply, I find it very useful.
I hope it won't be of a burden to you to give me a few good examples of leadership that could be nice to have. I work basically 10 hours a day now, add the GMAT preparation and it gets hard to come up with good options for leadership experience to gain. So I was wondering maybe you could give me a tip or what not?

Hi there,
Certainly it can be difficult with long hours! If it helps you feel any better, many other applicants are in a similar boat. ;) In terms of how to show leadership... most ways would be at work.... I haven't seen your full resume so I don't know what examples you may have to show already... but look at ways you can go above and beyond what is expected of you; take initiative to improve processes and strategies and even interpersonal/teamwork approaches if applicable; make new proposals and get others in the office on board; volunteer for projects/assignments/work that you don't HAVE to do; mentor and/or train new employees; suggest a community -focused activity for employees. And if you did have the chance for more community involvement, you could do some of those things within that activity too. Hope that helps!!
