Hi,
I am planning to apply to US B-schools in R1 of 2024 for the 2025 intake. Would really appreciate if I can get some feedback regarding my profile.
GMAT: 730 (Q50 V38). Not Planning to retake. Score valid till November 2024.
Background: Indian, Engineer, Male
Education: I completed my under-graduation (BTech) in Electrical Engineering from NIT Goa and was awarded the Academic Gold Medal for securing the highest overall GPA (9.19/10) in my Department. Overall was 3rd in the University.
Received multiple academic awards throughout High school as well.
Work Exp: 6.5 years
(1) Siemens Ltd (2.5 years): Worked as a Technical Sales Consultant and managed multiple Channel Partners and Dealers.
(2) Looking after my family business of Real Estate and Retail Sales since the last 4 years and managing a total of 25 employees.
Extra Curricular: Represented the state at the National level in speed skating and Rollball from 2007- 2013 and won multiple gold medals at the state level. Was the captain of the U-14, U-17 and U-19 state team. Participated in multiple inter-school and inter-college events in other sports as well
Organized multiple Technical events during under graduation.
Post MBA goals: Looking to explore opportunities in Real Esate or Consulting
Dream Schools: Harvard, Ross, Duke, Darden
Target Schools: McCombs, Kelley, Foster, Georgetown, Kenan-Flagler, UCLA, Scheller
I would really like to know if I have a realistic chance of getting into any of the Dream schools mentioned above considering that I come from an overrepresented pool of candidates.

vikrant1807 - a few thoughts/ clarifications:
1. Your undergrad and GPA are fine. GMAT score, though fine, is not stellar for the Dream Schools in your list, given the competitive applicant pool. With a strong application, odds at your Target Schools are higher. Taking the IELTS or TOEFL can help alleviate concerns on the low(er) Verbal score, have you considered this option?
2. What functional roles were you involved in in the family business, and are there any key achievements/ impact (e.g. increased revenues by X%) to highlight? Quantifying wherever possible helps
3. It'd be crucial to have a strong narrative. Aim to highlight your Siemens and family business experiences, linking the transferable skills to your post-MBA goals, and how an MBA (and specifically your Target School) would help bridge the gaps. Another angle to keep in mind is why MBA now, i.e. what has prompted the transition from your family business
4. ECs seem alright, are there more recent ones, i.e. post undergrad? Here again, having consistency and impact would be key to have a balanced narrative.
