Thanks as well for reaching out to the GMAT Club community.

Can you also fill us in on your MBA interests? Geography? Type of program? Size of class?

You have the pillars of a good profile, but we would want to learn more about the depth of your experiences - especially in your work and extracurricular spheres - before making a recommendation. Please provide additional information so everyone can be more helpful.

Thank you for responding to my query.
Please find my details below and kindly provide your feedback for my profile and all the B Schools I should target:

Details about my MBA Aspirations:

Target Geography for MBA and future work (Highest Preference to Lowest Preference): US, Canada, Europe
Type of Programs: MBA (2 YEAR Programs), MiM
Class Size: I am not yet very concerned with Cohort Size, I am open to ranges of class sizes.
Post MBA Goals: To work as a Product Manager in Tech / Consultancy.

Professional Experience:

I have 3 years of experience as a Software Developer in Niche Product Development, and have been a key member from Conceptualization of the Product to Marketing and Release, and have witnessed and participated actively in navigating through the different challenges in Product Development.
I have assumed 2 roles in 3 years (1 promotion) and have accolades at team as well as organizational level.

Extra-Curriculars:

I was a key member of a non-profit organization at College, that focused on the education of underprivileged children.
I led the educator team and we travelled to various areas of the city to conduct weekend classes and Quarterly Campaigns at Blind Schools - for a period of 3 years.
I am recently engaging with another non-profit organization to volunteer as an educator for children from 8th - 10th Standard.

Thank you.

That's quite a long list, but glad to see you are putting together a range of options.

I might move Tuck and NYU Stern up to DREAM. The latter is very competitive given its location in NYC and the former is small so more selective as a result. I would also consider UC Berkeley as a tech-focused school.

Do you need help cutting this list down? If so, let us know. We can help you narrow down your options based on a set of criteria and across rounds should you want to apply in both R1 and R2. Also, bear in mind, you need to get moving on these applications if you plan to apply to many. They take a ton of time, even if ultimately you are able to leverage material from your earlier essays to your later ones.

Please drop us a line if we can be of help. We offer free consultations should that appeal to you.

My awa score and IR score bring me down but I would like to avoid a re-attempt if its an absolute deal breaker
Where are you interested in attending geographically?: US , Canada , Europe
Do you want a large or small program? Preferably large.
Do you want a school with a strong connection to the green energy space or one that is more holistic but perhaps a better fit otherwise? Holistic and a better fit

I would prefer a college where I have good chances of getting a scholarship. Cost of attendance is a major criteria for me

Thank you for your help

Thanks for clarifying. Based on the information you have provided, I would focus on the following schools:

NYU (Stern)
Cornell (Johnson)
Georgetown (McDonough)
Michigan (Ross)
UCLA (Anderson)
Duke (Fuqua)
IE
IESE

That should give you a decent mix of schools with a shot at scholarship. If you are really keen on maximizing your potential at financial aid, you should move down the rankings even more. That's up to you as to how you balance prestige and cost.

Hi, anmolsb,

Thank you for sharing your profile.

First, I would like to congratulate you on backing a stellar 750 in your GMAT. That’s quite exceptional, so kudos on that! Coming to your GPA, you’ve got a decent GPA. Additionally, I would suggest adding a bit more about your overall statistics and information about any additional courses, certifications, and academic accolades, along with your GMAT score, to provide an overall boost on your academic front. Furthermore, I suggest you go through our article on Will a low IR score affect my chances if my GMAT is competitive? You will gain some beneficial insights into how to tackle the situation!

Coming to the work front, I can see career progression, your ability to excel, and some achievements. You will need to dig deeper into your work and find instances where you have contributed to the growth and development of your company and mention the critical projects, stellar leadership examples, and technical prowess thoroughly in your B-school essays. Moreover, you also have international exposure, which would certainly provide an additional boost. About your ECAs, you can definitely talk about the research paper you presented to show your innovative side. However, I suggest adding some relevant community or volunteering work and briefing more about your CSR programs. For instance, I suggest you go through our article on Significance of ECAs for MBA Application, to understand the importance of drafting exemplary ECAs essays!

Overall you have a decent profile with a strong GMAT score. However, I feel it’s still brief at some points! Moreover, coming from a non-conventional background, you need to be extremely clear on how an MBA can help you reach your goals and why you think it’s a good choice to go for an MBA now. Furthermore, you need to be more specific and confident, define your post-MBA goals in terms of short- and long-term post-MBA goals, and align them with the school values! At this point, I would like to know more about the key aspects of your work experience and overall profile so that we can properly gauge your chances at top B-schools. If you’d like, we are happy to get on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the top B-schools. So feel free to book a free session with us at your convenience.

Cheers!
