Hi all,
I wanted a profile evaluation for my M7 MBA application for 2026 intake.
A bit about my background-
Age - 25, Female
Undergrad - B. Tech. Chemical engineering IIT Madras, CGPA 7.92 (I know its low)
I’m currently working on GMAT prep, giving it in Oct this year, targeting 750+ (will not apply before that)
Professional experience -
Senior Manager, P&G (FMCG) Feminine care
I have been working since Aug 2020, Got promoted from manager to senior manager in Feb 2023.
I work on project management for Whisper for P&G. Currently leading a 16 Million US dollar project for whisper portfolio including capital management and technical development of the assembly lines for increasing the NOS of the company.
I lead a team of 9 directly, including post grads and technicians that have been working for 15+ years, I also drove promotion for 2 of them last year!
Before P&G, I have done a prof project for sanitary napkins in college, worked on VR development as another prof project (I made mario in VR)
I also interned at Citibank in college and tried my hand at coding (and failed, not for me)
I also went to HPAIR in 3rd year of college which is Harvards Asia conference every year and won a case competition there!
Extra Curriculars
I lead the women network in the manufacturing site i work in.
I have been in the equality and inclusion team for Gender equality and have attended and led some of the MARC sessions
I was also convener of music club at IIT Madras, organising the music events in our cultural fest Saarang
I also volunteered for
Avanti fellows, which is this NGO for underprivileged kids working on JEE prep. All of them cleared and went to atleast NITs
My specific questions are -
I know my GPA is low (it’s hard to have a good GPA with relative grading in IITs - also chemical engineering was boring)
I think i can make up for it with my GMAT score. Math is my strong suit so quant comes easy to me, working on verbal and data insights now to get to a high score
1. How critical is this low GPA? will it be a dealbreaker for some schools even with a higher GMAT score?
2. Is there something missing in my extra curriculars after college and should i do something about it in the next 2 years before my application?
3. Is HBS out of reach? I have always wanted to have harvard in my resume (that’s why i went to HPAIR as well) and it’s been a childhood dream of mine
4. If yes, which out of the M7s are definitely in reach?
Thanks for reading and would appreciate a response!
