Hello team,
I will be appearing for my GMAT on 28 Aug, 2021 but wanted to get your thoughts on my profile in-order to understand what would be a suitable GMAT score to start the application process. Mentioned below are my details -
Demographic: 33, Indian, Male
GMAT Score: Yet to appear
Education:
Class X: 86.8% (2003)
Class XII: 67.2% (2005)
Graduation: Mechanical Engineering - RGTU, Bhopal, CGPA of 5.9/10 (2005 - 2009)
Was this 2nd class? If so, you need to demonstrate your academic aptitude. Perhaps your GMAT will do that if you score well. Your graduate school work could also be evidence. If you really want to target the more competitive programs on your list, you may consider taking a course such as UC Berkley's Math for Management.Post Graduation: Post Graduate Diploma in Management - IMT, Ghaziabad, CGPA of 6.5/10 (2011 - 2013)
Was this online, while you worked, or a FT program? If the curriculum is similar to an MBA, then many schools are generally not interested in "trading up" on MBA programs. With that said, I've seen programs encourage people to apply because there's something specific they're looking for within those programs, so you may have to do a fair amount of school research to make a case for why each program is critical for you to reach your goals.Work-Ex:
Duration - 6 years
Looks like some well known companies and competitive peer groups. Without seeing the detail, seeing 4 companies in 6 years makes me wonder what the progression looked like. Perhaps your resume clears that up, but keep in mind that you want to demonstrate accelerated promotions and additional skillsets through each role. Another question, based on the timeline of graduating undergrad in '09, were there career gaps, or other companies perhaps?Organizations worked for - PwC India, EY India, AIG, Protiviti
Current designation - Senior Consultant
Job role - Technology Consulting, IT Risk Advisory
International exposure - Worked with PwC Middle east for a year
this is helpful - international exposure is great!Extracurricular:
Completed advanced mountain climbing course from a govt. recognized institute
Attained USPA Class A license in professional parachuting (license currently expired)
Languages- English(Fluent),Hindi(Native)
Role after MBA- Consulting/ Marketing
I encourage you to be very clear about your career aspirations and roadmap. You'll need to demonstrate awareness of your current skills and the gap you need to fill in order to achieve your goals, which is going to help you craft your "why an MBA" story.Aiming for the following colleges -
Kelley, Indiana
Kenan-Flagler, UNC
McCombs, Texas
Emory, Goizueta
Scheller, Georgia Tech
Fisher, Ohio State
Smeal, Penn State
NTU, Singapore
NUS, Singapore
Questions
1. How much should be my minimum GMAT score to begin with my application? What round should I start applying in R1/R2 in case my GMAT score is <700?
For the programs you mentioned, 639-704 is the range for those that post averages. Whenever possible, I recommend R1. If that's just not going to be enough time to put your best application (and test score) forward, then R2 is 2nd best.2. Is there a chance of getting any scholarship for my profile?
It's hard to say just based on this brief description. To help your chances, see this blog, 4 Strategies To Find Scholarships for MBA Programs3. I would appreciate if you could kindly suggest colleges for the 'Dream, Target and Achievable' categories.
