Hi Satrupa,

You have a rather good profile. I can say from my experience of helping applicants apply successfully, that females with your kind of experience on the shop floor are viewed favorably by admissions committees. So, you are starting off at an advantageous position.
keep up the good work professionally and get involved in some volunteering activities- they add dimension to your profile.

Now, I'd like to ask you, why aren't you applying in the R2 cycle? You have the perfect level of work experience even now. All you need is a good GMAT score.

Hello MBADecoder,
Thanks for your evaluation.
Coming to your question,i am not prepared enough to get a decent GMAT score for R2 this year.
without much of EC as of now i think i would need a great score to make a strong application.Would like to know your opinion.
Regards,
Satarupa

ISB does not focus as much on GMAT as some other top American programmes. With or without ECAs its just beneficial to get a 700+ GMAT score. SO evaluate whether you can pull the GMAT off before 15th Jan, without compromising the quality of your application. If not, then there is always R1 next year

Hi tejasa07,

Thanks for sharing your profile.

I am an ISB alum, and run an admission consulting firm, CrackAdmission (https://www.crackadmission.com). Please find below my comments against your profile :

GMAT Score : Average
Undergrad GPA : Average
Volume of experience : Good
Quality of experience : Good
Extracurricular : Average

Based on my experience of assisting applicants in their admission journeys for the last 3 years, I definitely think that you can get an interview shortlist with your current score of 680, and hence should apply in R2 without the slightest of apprehension.

Having said that you will need to clearly articulate in your essays the rationale behind your move from a core sector to technology sector, and how have your experiences shaped your future career goals. Also, note that a significant number of applicants with varied GMAT scores apply to ISB each year from ZS (myself being an ex-ZSer) and hence it becomes quite essential for you to distinguish yourself from the pool – not only in terms of professional experiences and goals, but also in terms of personal attributes.

Please feel free to reach out to me at arijit.biswas@crackadmission.com/+919701215544 in case you want to discuss further and looking for professional assistance.

Wish you the very best .

Arijit

Thanks Arijit for the assessment! Will reach out to you.

Hi! Few of our candidates who had applied in R1, got interview invite just yesterday (for Delhi location). It is really surprising to get an interview invite so late, since even the R1 results are out.

Am just curious if someone else has received the interview invite as well?

If leading the NGO is your full time experience, you must elaborate some key achievements whilst working with the NGO. If you have hit some key milestones while serving and leading an NGO, it could enhance your application. Thanks.

Hey,

Your profile looks good. Have heard from my friends that your achievements in your work will also be essential. You will add diversity to the batch and hence stand a good chance.
There will be focus on what you have done and achieved with your NGO. So try to project those things also in the application and your profile will look interesting.

Its hard to make out much about your profile as you have not mentioned anything about your professional life- where do you work, what do you do, what are your achievements at work, what is your carer progress? Why do you want to do an MBA?

You have omitted all the important information in your query.

Re: ISB Profile Evaluation - Tools for B-School Profile Evaluation [#permalink]
Hi,

Please evaluate my profile. Would appreciate some advice on what range of Gmat scores will I need for ISB.

Basics:
29 year old male from India
Planning to appear for Gmat around July’18 for the program commencing in 2019

Academics:
92.5% in Tenth Grade (CBSE)
90.0% in Twelfth Grade (CBSE)
First Division in B Com (Honors) from Sri Venkateswara College (University of Delhi)
Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in November 2012 (multiple attempts)

Work experience:
5 years of experience post qualifying chartered accountancy:
2 years as a Senior analyst with the M&A Investment Banking team at one of the Big4 accounting firms (Front end) – Worked on several pitches and some live deals; drafted pitchbooks and IMs; built financial models; undertook company/industry research
3 years as an associate investment manager with a prominent Real Estate Fund in India (AUM $11 bn+) – Worked end-to-end on 11 deals; analysis and execution; monitoring of assigned portfolio of investments; regularly interfacing with investee management/ consultants/ lawyers/ bankers
I have received good ratings in appraisals throughout and was promoted this year.
Given nature of roles, both positions were with small teams, and thus I do not have any direct leadership experience however I have worked with other functional teams in a supervisory capacity and mentored interns/ trainees.

Prior to all this, I went through the 3.5 years of mandatory training as part of the CA coursework, and worked with the treasury team of a large Indian financing corporation for 9 months before appearing for the CA Final exams.

Extra-curricular:
Competed at CBSE national level in swimming and water polo.
Served as the captain for the aquatics team in senior year of school and throughout college.
Held student council positions in school – prefect, house captain

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. :-)

Vediv,

With ISB's minimum accepted GRE score being 303, your GRE score of 305 is at the lower end of the range. That's not gonna help too much, especially for a younger applicant as yourself.

I'd be more interested in knowing details about your work experience, which you have not mentioned here as such. What are your achievements at work?
You have been involved in several activities at college, but again, your impact is more important. In the MBA applications, quality trumps over quantity.

I'd suggest you to push through your application for Round 2 only if you have a very strong background (and can churn out a great application). Else, waiting a year and improving your standardized tests will be more effective. ISB is open to reapplicants, but I must admit, it is a burden applying as a reapplicant.
