Profile Evaluation for MIT Mfin 2021!  [#permalink]

Hi Guys, could you please help me with an evaluation of my profile for the MIT Mfin 2020 Intake.

Profile:

Nationality: Indian
Expected Graduation - Aug 2020
Degree: Economics Major from a not-known private university. My University was founded not more than 12 years ago and therefore isn't globally known.
GPA: 7.67/8.00 Top 10% Student
GMAT: 740 (Q46, V45) First Attempt
Internships:
1. Big 4 (8 Weeks) - Worked directly under Senior Partner in Financial Services Risk Management division
2. Venture Capital Fund (8 Weeks) - Investments intern at one of Asia's Largest VC Fund in terms of AUM
3. Startup NBFC (8 Weeks) - Worked Directly under the Founding MD
4. Will intern in the same startup NBFC for 8 weeks this winter

Other Relevant Work Experience:
1. Founding President of the Consulting Club - We offer free to low cost consulting for the not-for-profits within a 50 Mile Radius of our University.
Successfully worked with 5 Clients since 2017.

Leadership
1. Elected, President of Student Council (2019-2020), Elected, General Secretary of Student Council (2018 - 2019), Elected, Class Representative of Student Council (2017 - 2018)
2. Sponsorship Committee Head for the Economics Fest of the University (2017-2018)

Extra-Curricular:
1. Basketball Team Captain - Intra University Basketball League - Champions 2017, Semi-Finalists 2018
2. OC Member for my University's TEDx
3. Core OC Member for the University's Orientation Program for the Incoming Batch of Students - 2018, 2019

1. National Stock Exchange of India (NCFM Module) - Financial Markets (Advanced Module), Mutual Funds (Advanced Module), Mergers & Acquisitions

1. from a professor (oxford alumni) - He taught me a Social Sciences course for an entire semester
2. from the MD of the Startup NBFC
2. from a Rhodes Scholar faculty/ Management position holder at my University (I've never been taught by him, but have gotten to know him extremely well through my leadership positions and co-curricular activities at college)

Goals: I want to work for a major consulting firm (Think MBBs) with financial services as my expertise and use the knowledge and experiences that I gain from the Mfin program in maximizing the value that I can add to the work I do.

Additional Information: working part-time for the Senior Partner from the Big 4 since my first internship on his personal business ventures.

Hello kj12,

You have a lot to talk about and map it to the interest in the course such as MIT Mfin program. As far as I understand the program encourages freshers to apply and accounts for internships to as part of the experience. You have great recommendations which is a plus and all that you have done so far align to the program too.

You have a strong case, a good GPA and a good GMAT score too. My suggestion would be to go ahead and apply.
