PrabhuNaidu - your profile shows potential.

On the professional front, you've mentioned a promotion, but was it in-line with industry/ company standards or fast-tracked? Also, any extracurriculars you've been involved in after undergrad?

While there's no magic score, aiming for a 675-685+ GMAT score with a balanced sectional split would be ideal.

All the best!

Arvind

PrabhuNaidu Your AMNS journey on an 8400 Cr CAPEX programme, commissioning two galvanizing lines and a pickling-tandem unit, is genuinely differentiated. Most Indian MBA cohorts skew heavily IT services and consulting, so a heavy-industry project planner brings something adcoms don't see often.

- On the GMAT, 645 Focus keeps you in play at the lower end but isn't where you actually want to land. For the IIM one-year programmes, aim for 675+ on the Focus scale; that sits in the percentile band where admitted PGPX students typically cluster. ISB is slightly more forgiving, but anchoring at 675 gives you margin across all six schools.
- Watch the experience profile for PGPX specifically. You'll be around five years in by matriculation, while the cohort skews closer to a decade and an average age of about 32. You clear the four-year floor comfortably, but your essays will need to punch above your tenure on leadership scope, not just deliverables.
- Your strongest natural fit is ISB. The cohort experience lines up better, and your manufacturing lane puts you in a smaller, more visible bucket within the applicant pool. Treat ISB as your highest-probability school, not as a safety.
- The Steel Star Award and Hall of Fame are gold if framed right. Adcoms read external recognition as social proof that you led, not just delivered. One of these should anchor a leadership essay rather than sit in a bullet list.
- Post-MBA goals need real work now. A vague ops manager pivot is the lazy default. Operations strategy at MBB, infra or industrials PE, or a P&L leadership track inside a manufacturing conglomerate are tighter narratives that build directly on what you've already done.

PrabhuNaidu,

At first glance, the scale of your work stands out. Not many applicants at this experience level can point to direct involvement in an ₹8,400 Cr CAPEX expansion, commissioning of large manufacturing assets, and measurable outcomes such as cost savings and schedule acceleration. The Steel Star Award adds credibility because it is tied to business outcomes rather than participation.

The bigger challenge is positioning. Project planning and controls are often viewed as support functions unless leadership and influence are made explicit. At work, I'd focus on examples where you aligned stakeholders, resolved conflicts, and drove decisions without formal authority. Outside work, the IEEE leadership role is valuable because it shows initiative, team management, and community building. However, it is now fairly dated. If possible, look for opportunities to lead initiatives, communities, mentoring programs, or industry forums in the next 12–18 months to show that leadership remains an active part of your profile rather than something confined to college.

The strongest application will connect both professional and extracurricular leadership into a consistent pattern of ownership and influence.

Feel free to reach out if you are seeking professional guidance wrt drafting high-impact application collaterals.

Cheers and wishing you all the very best !!
