I am planning to attempt GMAT FE by Jul/Aug and Target Schools: ISB, IIM A/B/C/L/K
Here are my details and Profile Overview:
Demographic: General Engineering Male
Education:
- B.Tech: Mechanical Engineering - Vellore Institute of Technology (8.45 CGPA, Class of 2022)
- 12th: 81.50%
- 10th: 10 CGPA
Work Experience (4Y9M as of 31 March 2027):
AMNS India Limited - Assistant Manager in Project Monitoring & Control (Joined as a GET)
- Project planner in Cold Roll Mill Complex CAPEX expansion of 8400 Cr. budget.
- Commissioned two galvanizing lines of 0.5 MTPA each and Pickling & Tandem Continuous line of 2 MTPA within budget of 4500 Cr.
- Coordinate EPC stakeholders across 3 major disciplines, resolving cross-functional bottlenecks and accelerating milestone execution.
- Own S-curve monitoring and variance analysis for 5 major workstreams, ensuring alignment with evolving project scope and milestones.
- Perform delay analyses using Primavera P6 and propose mitigation plans for schedule slippage.
- Executed integrated micro-schedules for major packages; leveraged data-driven progress tracking to diagnose structural delays and re-optimize resource allocation, accelerating to commissioning.
- Developed a PO-validity tracker; facilitated cross-functional alignment to mitigate contract risks and maintain continuity in vendor operations.
Awards & Recognition:
- Received the Steel Star Award for 86.56 L cost savings through the strategic decoupling of fabrication scope, improved schedule control (2 months) by transitioning from general contractors to specialized vendors.
- Recognized in Hall of Fame for driving tangible productivity improvements by transitioning in-house project management functions, resulting in enhanced system reliability and horizontal deployment of best practices.
Extra-curricular:
- Vice-Chairperson of my university IEEE-NPSS chapter leading 30+students to organize events and coordinated various hackathons & Symposiums.
- Semi-Finalist in Flipkart Grid 2.0 which was conducted at national level and ranked in top 8% for designing an Intelligent picking robot.

Overall, you have a good profile. Your combination of manufacturing/project execution experience along with AI/GenAI exposure makes your profile quite interesting and differentiated for 1-year MBA programs. The way you position and present your work experience in essays and interviews will be very important — storytelling and clarity of impact will matter a lot here. Your academics and extracurriculars are decent for programs like ISB and the top IIM 1-year MBAs.
Also spend some time refining your post-MBA goals and how they connect with your career journey so far. A GMAT FE score around 675 should make you competitive for ISB, while around 645 should keep you in range for all IIM's
Also note that IIMB, IIMC, and IIML require 5 years of full-time work experience by March of the intake year.
