Age 27, White male
I will have 3.5 years of service in the U.S. Army at time of application. I am a logistics officer. Positions held include platoon leader and maintenance control officer. As platoon leader, I oversaw the health, welfare, and training of 62 Soldiers. As maintenance control officer, I coordinated maintenance operations for a brigade support battalion. I served one deployment to the Middle East in support of operation enduring freedom.

3.42GPA BA Economics from a state school in California
In college I volunteered at a food bank for roughly a year.
I hold a top secret security clearance.
Reach schools: Michigan, UCLA
Targets: Notre Dame, Georgetown
I'm not really sure if I'm being too ambitous or too conservative with my choice of reach schools.
I wish to transition from the military into a successful civilian life. I am interested in consulting and operations management. I want to be in a career in which I can utilize my leadership skills to build productive teams. I enjoy fast-paced work.

Good to hear from you.
so for starters your profile is pretty good. B-schools LOVE military applicants in general, and in your case they will love that you have both a good amount of leadership experience as well as a military training and experience that is very easily translatable to civilian life.
I think you should have no problem selling that story, although you might want to consider presenting the Adcoms with goals of you going into logistics/supply chain, because they are close to what you have done (I imagine), and would make for a very convincing story.
The biggest weakness in your application is your GMAT, and if you believe you can get better, it may be worth your while to retake, even if this will mean only applying in R2. Even 30+ points will help a lot.
Other than that, for your school list, I think Michigan is a reach yeah, but that even UCLA should be pretty competitive given the strength of your military profile.
