I can tell you that a number of preschools offer statistics about the success of their former students (e.g. here is how many have gone to Harvard undergrad, Ivy League, etc) - it is pretty crazy for a pre-school to imply they have contributed to that success.....

Yeah, I am worried that I won't be able to get on track given that I didn't go to a target pre-school. Mommy home schooled me, and it was hard to convey to the elementary school adcoms the rigor of her teaching. Any other advice?

ok this has GOT to be a joke. Hours are sporadic, and I am worried I'll be pigeon-holed as an old-industry employee???

Yeah. Do you think that's something to be worried about or am I making too big of a deal about it? I really want to leave my options open and I don't want to lose future optionality. Thoughts?

Are you for real? I was sure this was posted by someone making fun of this mania.

You arent even 12 and freaking out about all this stuff? Yes, pedigree matters but doesn't make up for passion. Adcom consists of humans.

My best advice is to stop focusing on all the external strategy and turn your attention inward, figure out what makes you happy, follow your bliss get in the flow. Your source of power is in the present moment. Eckhart Tolle.

I work with a lot of people who have engineered all this stuff but they haven't got anything figured out in terms of WHY MBA - what motivates and animates? Please concentrate on spending time doing things you enjoy. and exploring what that is.

EXPLORE.

Hi Everyone,
Johnny117, I suggest you go out and play some football with the other neighborhood kids- and resume your childhood!
All this madness will come to you soon enough! For now- learn how to play with your peers on the football field, or maybe tennis court or somewhere with less concussions as we want to keep the brain fresh for your test prep... Good work on ACT pretests, focus on these for now! And to get even more scholarships, go ahead and rock the SAT too! But don't forget that if you look at successful business people, you will find that people who get along well with their peers tend to do VERY WELL- so don't overlook the importance of the friendships you can make now in your childhood!! We'll chat in a few years....:)

I currently go to a tier two feeder elementary school and am hoping to get into MBB consulting. I am trying to transfer my way to an magnet middle school and then to go to an elite prep school => HYP => MBB => GSB => MBB. I have a role lined up this summer helping mommy with groceries which I can leverage into supply chain management experience, but some of my peers already have client-facing roles lined up and I don't want to fall behind. I have a few other options for this summer and I would appreciate your insight:

Option one: Leverage daddy's lawn mower to mow the neighbors lawn. Hours are sporadic, and I am worried I'll be pigeon-holed as an old-industry employee unable to potentially jump to tech-consulting.

Option two: networked into a tier 2 burger-joint busboy (think Carls Jr) paying $4/hr, but without a bonus structure. I probably could leverage this into tier-one shop next summer, potentially working my way to corporate.

Which of these two would best set me up to attend GSB? I currently am scoring a 34 on my practice pre-ACTs, but am targeting 35+. Ultimately I would like to get into GSBs 4+4+2+2 program. Thanks for the insight!

Dear Johnny,
Here's what nobody tells you. What do you get to do "After a bi-name MBA". Now that I am going to spill the secret, you may as well start doing it now, and have a several decades of lead over the others, leading to ultimate job satisfaction. What say?

So, increasingly, all the Big-Name MBAs do, is to pick-up after the corporate top-honchos. Yeah! that is true. The big guns go around **** at the weirdest of places, mostly publicly. If you are adept in that job for decades, you won't need to pay through your nose for a B-School. Maybe you can even open your own..

Good Luck Johnny
