i request you to evaluate my profile for the admission in IIM B/C
Name: Arvind Jain
GMAT Score: 680(q48, v35)
Graduation: BTECH in Instrumentation and control Engineering( CGPA 8.5)
Good school acadamics.
Work Ex:
Current profile: Working as Manager(Maintenance) in GAIL india LTD( Natural Gas industry). I have 8 years of experience in Commissioning,project execution, and maintenance activities.
Interests: cooking, and gardening
Career Goals: i want to work in energy sector companies such as Shell, Exon Mobil etc as Manager, Business Operations.
kindly review and comment if i have good chance for MBA in operations at IIMs

I got IIMB with 690, ops background. Average GMAT of the cohort is 710. So you are on the lower side. Not sure if it'll make the cut. But again 1 year MBAs stress more on profile.
The work-ex is good enough. Just make sure to stress positively on your key achievements in your resume. Resume prep is KEY!
Shell does recruit from IIMB so you will get an attempt for that.

Hi Arvind,
While your GMAT score is slightly on the lower side, work experience in a reputed PSU such as GAIL will definitely help you to put forward a strong candidature in terms of the diversity you will bring to the MBA cohort. GMAT score constitutes only one part of your application. The key is to substantiate your GMAT score with a strong application by bringing out your major achievements in the SoP/essays.
Your post-MBA goals are quite achievable. In fact, Shell has been a regular recruiter at IIM B. While continuing in the oil & gas industry in a different role can be a good option, you can also look for roles like operations manager in e-commerce firms (Amazon, Flipkart, Udaan) as an alternate career choice. You can leverage your people management skills in such kind of role.
