Hi,
allenliu0915, Congratulations on your impressive GMAT score! Honestly, you have a tricky profile to predict, because you have a GMAT score for your target schools that is well above the average, but other factors that make admission more challenging - namely, your below average GPA and what sounds like very variable work experience that does not follow a normal upward trajectory. I think it will be important to explain your GPA and to help the adcoms understand your path better. I am wondering if there were some personal circumstances at play (you can use the optional essay to explain). My guess is, without knowing more, that UCLA and UCB could be tough even with your great GMAT, so I would suggest balancing these choices out by adding some lower-ranked options as a backup, or perhaps some part time programs. I can't tell what your future goals might be or what you might be looking for in a program - it seems like you are in California, but you have some Midwest and East Coast names on your list - are you trying to stay on the West Coast, because some recruiting can be a bit regional? In general, I'd be looking for programs with a bit higher admit rates and lower average GPAs to add to your list. You might also consider trying to show academic readiness, depending on what your lower grades were in on your transcript, through a pre-MBA or quantitative course. Yes, your score should help with that, but you also want to show your seriousness over time. Hope this is helpful, feel free to have a consultation with one of us to explain your situation and goals a bit more.
Warmly,
Julie-Anne Heafey
