Thanks for the extra detail.

A lot to like here based on your full profile. Here are the improvement areas.
- GMAT is a bit lower for your listed schools. As is, you’re already pretty competitive for Fuqua, Ross or anyone ranked below that who have lower average GMATs. If you got it to 720 (or even 700), your chances of Sloan and Haas go up quite a bit. If you hit 720, you should aim for more in the Top 10, like Kellogg, Columbia, or even H/S/W. Your GPA in STEM and the ranking of your undergrad help you significantly, especially since you seem on the younger side. Definitely apply Round 1 if the GMAT is lower, but I’d recommend it regardless.
- You said you’ll have 36 months in consulting by the time school starts. Does that mean you’ve only worked for 2 years? Or do you have experience elsewhere and for how long? If you’re really that young, then you’ll need a strong story on why now. Average age at matriculation is 28 for your choices.

With the right execution on your story/essays and on your recommendations to show your abilities/leadership professionally, I’d say you’re a very strong candidate for Top 15. Better GMAT makes you strong for Top 10 as well. You’ve already got the underlying passion and differentiation down for your profile; just a matter of how it’s manifested.

Hello!

I’m looking for honest feedback on my candidacy to top 15 MBA programs this upcoming cycle. Mainly looking at Fuqua, Tuck, Haas, MIT. Would love to hear what round would be best to apply in as well.

Education: Top 10 school with 3.9 GPA
GMAT: 690 (planned to retake but since all test centers closed I don’t know if I’ll be able too in time for applications this year. Assuming it stays at this score)
Work Exp by time of school start: 36 months at non-MBB but well known strategy consulting firm
Extracurricular: consulting for small businesses in local area through a NFP organization. 3 experiences so far, working as member of COVID task-force to help keep local biz alive however possible
My driving factor to attend: STEM major in college, looking to build up biz acumen and polish skills with the end goal of starting and running a business that helps and enables local businesses to succeed. I’m a first gen american and most/all of the success of my family comes from others helping in times of need, I want to make it my mission to do the same for those that helped us.
With a lower GMAT (if it stays as is-- you want to jump in early and take advantage of the early round no invite interviews. Fuqua has traditionally had this as does UNC Kenan-Flagler, Tuck, and Darden now (I think). You will have to get invited for MIT and Haas-- but what you can do now is take the time to know these schools through virtual chats, watching webinars, reaching out to club members etc so that when it is time to apply you can show through your research that you really understand why you are a great fit with the program. That kind of detail can help you stand out-- There is a chance in the Haas optional essay to share more about being first gen American and share how some of your upbringing has influenced you. If you show a really strong fit with a program, i have seen how people can be accepted even if their profile is under the standard test and gpa averages. You can get an A+ on your application if you do a great job. I think that articulating more detail on the post MBA goal-- and entrepreneurship might be a tricky one right now-- could also help you. You want to be sure that adcom feels you have a realistic goal post MBA that is attainable and that you won't be a super drain on the career coaching staff. So that's where having lots of calls with students to understand what companies are hiring and what experience is needed can help you present as someone who really can achieve their post MBA goal through this program.
Would truly appreciate any and all advice, thanks in advance.
