Hi All,
Hi VarunW- will try to address below in blue. Thanks for reaching out!I start with a 5.1/10 Undergrad GPA at a top 10 Canadian University in Business with MIS.
I didn't value grades then, I see where I made a mistake.
OK that is going to be a tough one....I currently work for Nielsen in the CPG industry and I am killing it here, been promoted twice in 3 years, selected for the emerging leaders program as well (20 out of 800 associates). Total WE at matriculation would be 3.5 years, very very strong recommendations from VP of Canada.
I did the GMAT got a 740 (Q48, V42).
I'm just not sure if I will ever be admitted to schools that value their GPA average, my targets are below
So the way to handle this is just to write an optional essay and say you realize your mistake- you can't control that but you have taken work very seriously and this has been a source of motivation for you to improve going forward. Use GMAT and work excellence to support that you have now changed.Columbia (early)
Booth
Kellogg
Cornell
Tuck
(maybe Ross) - so maybe Ross - who is trying to up their GMAT will be more forgiving on the grades- I would also look to that next tier of schools who may also be willing to overlook the grades to get the GMAT- think Kenan-Flagler, UVA, UCLA, Stern, UT Austin. I do think Cornell is a possibility too. Not sure you will break into Kellogg/Booth/Tuck unless you truly wow on some other area-and maybe you can if you really shine in interviews and with killer recommendation letters- you will need that! If you want our help to overcome that low GPA- seek us out for a free consult: https://stratusprep.com/free-consult/I guess I'm just looking for input. I've read multiple stories of people overcoming a 2.7, 2.8 but 2.33 (5.1/10) just seems insurmountable.
I have considered taking courses at University of Toronto (intro to finance, accounting, stats AGAIN) to exhibit my skills (I can get A's I just didn't value it in UG).
Little more background, I just turned 27 in September, indian male, NON-ENGINEERING, canadian citizen and it took me 5 years to graduate from UG.
