MBA candidate, a Master Mariner with 9 years of diverse experience in Merchant Navy. Work profile involves vast experience of overall incharge, Senior management, General management, Operations, Supply chain and Logistics, Human resource/Crew management and Energy industry(oil/gas/chemicals/products). I have been fortunate enough to have geographical exposure in all 7 Continents, more than 50 countries and have worked with more than 50 nationalities. 2years - Chief Officer - World Wide
- One of the youngest promoted Chief officer, just at the age of 28.
- Similar to a role of a CEO at a smaller scale, which includes planning, creating a vision and developing a culture onboard, operations and management incharge, HR management, Finance and budgeting onboard vessels.
3years - 2nd Officer - World Wide
-Navigation incharge - navigational advisor to the Master of the vessel.
-Independently and solely carried out the navigation and route planning, which includes navigating withing shortest time, weather optimization - taking full advantage of wind, weather and currents & tracking/avoiding adverse weather condition at all times, achieving lowest possible fuel consumption and lowest possible generation of carbon foot prints.
-Incharge of medical emergency team and contingency planning.
3years - 3rd Officer - World Wide
-Incharge - to maintain emergency preparedness such as Life saving, Fire fighting, Rescue, Oil spill, Collision, grounding and Explosion etc.
-Incharge of Radio and distress communication.
-Legal documentation with port and local authorities of visiting countries.
-Accounting and inventories.
-Crew recreation and event organization.
Additionally, some of the daily jobs onboard consisted of :
- Worldwide expose and great international exposure.
-Visiting a country, quickly forming a team with local shore team and carry out operation in the safest and most efficient manner.
-Harsh, extreme and ever changing weather conditions for which Plan A,B,C,D,E to be always kept ready, adapting and improvising.
-Team up with armed forces such as US navy seals, Indian navy, Lankan army, Nigerian coast guards to combat against piracy and hijacking.
-Carry with utmost care and safety, about 50,000 to 1.5million T's of of oil, chemical, product, gases, through trans-oceanic passages.
-Constantly living and working in high risk, hazardous and high demanding working conditions.
-Combat, motion sickness, extreme weather conditions, continuous work hours, feeling of low, fatigue and depression for self as well as entire team.
-Surviving and planning for basic things such as food, water, internet etc.
Achievements:
-1st among the batch and one of the youngest to become a Master Mariner.
-One of the youngest promoted Chief officer.
-Broke the industry barriers and stereotype of switching between different types of vessels - Bulk carries>>Crude oil>>Product>>Gas tankers. Was awarded such transfers basis excellent appraisals.
-Involved in various leadership, team building and emergency preparedness courses by the organization.
Activities and Hobbies:
-SOCIAL SERVICE
Volunteered in HELPAGE INDIA - raised awareness, assisted in raising funds for the care of the elderly.
Regular volunteer (weekends) in community service - Cooking and feeding the poor and unfortunate. Assisted, as youth volunteer in newly setting up the local community centre from scratch.
-HIKING
Regularly involved in Hiking activities since college.
Eg - summit - Annapurna mountain, Nepal - 5416m/18,000ft - one of the top ten mountains of the world.
-TRAVELLING
Travelled across 7 continents and more than 50 countries.
