Hey Everyone (or anyone for that matter),
I was wondering what ya'll think my chances at any of the following schools?

HBS
Wharton
LBS
IESE
Berkeley
Duke
Oxford
Georgetown
Yale
Thunderbird

My stats are below, any other feedback is more than welcome/encouraged

Undergrad: University of Michigan: Econ
Undergrad GPA: 3.0 (had terrible 1st year) Junior/Senior GPA 3.4
Masters of Accounting from University of Michigan Business School (no grades in masters program)
received sholarship during masters program
GMAT Score: 710 - 92% (Q44 - 70%,V42 - 95%) Awa 5.5 80%
Country: US /Male of Hispanic origin
Work Exp: 5 Years
Industry: 2 yrs with PWC (Transaction Services - essentially M&A consulting & Valuation reviews) 3 yrs private wealth management/public company valuations
Foreign work stint: Internship in Nicaragua

Significant
Achievements:
Am a CPA
Passed LVL I & II of CFA on first try (taking level III in June 09)

Extra Curricular Activities:
Lots in College: Boxed, part of theatre troop, wrote for school newspaper, big brother big sister program.
Was a Graduate student Instructor teaching undergrad accounting class during my masters. During school ran my own computer networking business (networked frats, sororities, and houses, also fixed computers)
After College (allot of my time went towards passing CPA and CFA exams, but also apprenticed at five star restaurant on weekends (cooking is a hobby of mine). Also on the side worked on a startup company that I eventually sold.

I think you have a pretty good chance at alot of the schools up there, and I would realistically try to whittle it down to no more than 6 schools. Essays take a long time, and you would probably be better off being more focused. Maybe apply to 2 schools in top 5, 3 schools in top 20, and a safety school. I think Georgetown would be a nice safety. Whereas Duke and Berkeley are more target schools; and HBS as a reach.

I think you have a shot at all of them. Being hispanic should help out your cause, and your lower grades are pretty old...upward trend helps. GMAT and work experience is solid.

Try to focus on being a good "fit" for the program. If you can tie your past experience in with the schools culture and programs, you'll do well.

ninkorn,
To clarify the Macc (master of accounting) program at Michigan is like the Michigan MBA where we do receive "grades" but no GPA. Our grades where in the form of exelent, good, pass, low pass so there was no GPA. Sorry for the confusion

How long ago did you do their Macc program?

Also how do ya'll think the Adcom for MBA programs view masters in accounting programs?
In my case I did mine right after undergrad (both from University of Michigan)


On one hand I can see them viewiing it positivley as one more indication that a candiate is up to the rigors of te Quant at a top MBA program.

On the other hand I could see them thinking why another Masters (my counter to that arugment would be: I got my masters right out of undergrad and at this point in my life I wish to use the MBA to round out my education, manegerial experience, leadership skills, and networking with students + alums)
what do you guys think?
