mbaMissionKate Hi!

I was looking to get my profile reviewed to get a better idea of the schools i should be looking at and how to mitigate some of the negative aspects of my profile.

· Demographics (nationality, gender): Indian , Male(29)

· Education (undergraduate institution, GPA, major ): NITK Surathkal (top 10 Engineering school), 2.2 Cgpa, Mechanical Engineer

· Other coursework or post-undergraduate education: CFA( all levels cleared) CAIA, FRM( one level cleared one pending)

· GMAT or GRE (include section breakdown): 750 - QA:50 , VA:42

· Work experience (): Software Engineer ( 2 Years, one promotion, lead a team of 3), Transaction Advisory/Investment Banking(4 years, started as intern with 3 promotions, Execution lead(managerial) answering to the partners leading a team of 10-12 across projects, few international clients remote work)

· Extracurricular activities (): Part of various sports teams, gaming team, Organizing gaming events during fests

· Post-MBA goals: Private Equity/ Investment Banking

· Target schools: Wharton, Booth, Columbia, NYU, LBS

· Other information relevant to your profile: Took a year off to travel , travelled for 6 months before covid struck

· Any specific questions you would like answered by our team: Considering my low cgpa, do additional certifications like the CFA help? Also with this profile is it prudent to apply to the above colleges?

Hi, and thanks for writing! While your GMAT is strong, I think your CGPA will make the schools you're targeting a challenge. Given that Indian applicants are very heavily represented in the applicant pool, a high GPA and GMAT are required, even though both GMAT and your exams will help offset the GPA too. I would expand your list of schools to include Oxford Said, Cambridge Judge, Duke Fuqua, UVA Darden, UNC Kenan Flagler, and Cornell Johnson. And in any case, you'll want to address the GPA in the Optional Essay in a way that shows ownership and responsibility while highlighting any extenuating circumstances.

Hope that helps for now!
