MeharJ
Have my final attempt at GMAT on 22nd Jan, to be fair, that expected score is early 600s only, no high hopes though Im giving my best in final prep.
My profile besides that is; 80% in 12th, 6 CGPA in Bsc Economics, 80% in Master of Supply Chain Management (Sydney Business School, cam back to India due to Covid), and after that currently working in LTIMindtree (erstwhile Larsen and Toubro Infotech) as Bid Manager since 3.5 years.
Reason for doing MBA is to change career back in Supply Chain Management field, had earlier lost track in the field during covid.
Had been awarded in Dean’s List for Masters final research project.
Have been given 2 awards at work.
Will be able to secure 2 to 3 good LORs from current and past managers as well.
Kindly review if I have any chance given my probable below to near avg GMAT score.
Hi
MeharJ , I hope all is well! Your profile has notable strengths, such as international exposure with a Master's in Supply Chain Management from a reputable institution, a Dean’s List recognition, and consistent professional achievements (awards and strong LORs). However, your expected GMAT score in the early 600s is a potential weakness, as ISB typically looks for competitive scores closer to 710+ for applicants in the Indian applicant pool. Additionally, your undergraduate GPA (6 CGPA) could be a concern, though your strong performance in your Master's program partially mitigates this.
Your career clarity and intention to pivot back to supply chain management are commendable, but you must clearly articulate how ISB can facilitate this transition in your essays and interviews. Highlighting your leadership experience and tangible impact as a Bid Manager will be crucial.
Realistically, the GMAT score may limit your chances in ISB R3, as it is highly competitive, and lower scores are often a disadvantage. However, a strong application with compelling essays, achievements, and a clear narrative could still make a case but we think you shall consider waiting to apply in an earlier round with an improved GMAT score to strengthen your candidacy further.
