Hi!
Would love if you could give me a profile evaluation, many thanks in advance!
Demographics (nationality, gender): Spanish nationality, with Chinese roots (First generation of Spanish born chinese). 29, Male.
Education (undergraduate institution, GPA, major - high school/entrance exams not needed)
- Degree in Economics (one of the top schools in Spain) – 7/10
- Master degree in finance (one of the top schools in Spain) – 8.5/10
Other coursework or post-undergraduate education:
- Passed CFA Level I (top 10%) and Level II. Both on first attempt. Planning on taking the Level 3 next year.
- Went summer campus in China to study Chinese and at the same time do some volunteer work (teaching english and spanish).
· GMAT or GRE (include section breakdown): 710 (currently my biggest concern)
· Work experience (highlight amount of work experience, industries, roles, promotions, special accomplishments, international exposure):
- Worked at EY (7 years of experience) first in Audit department (2 years), became a high performer so allowed me to transfer to other department, such as Strategy Consultant (6 months) and then M&A and Transactions department (4 and a half), currently a Manager of the department, overall consistent high performer. Also, developed the Chinese desk in Spain to help international transactions China-Spain to be accomplished and brough c.10 projects to the firm. International travelled accross Europe and a few times to China for projects.
- Co-founded an e-commerce focused on selling self-designed watches. We designed the watches ourselves, sourced the manufacturing in China and sold the products in Europe, mainly in Spain. I focused on the management of the marketing and strategy of the firm while my co-founder was focused on accountability and administrative tasks.
- Opened a 6 room hotel in Barcelona while in college and managed the advertisement, booking availability, customer service and had 3 employees under management. Sold the hotel 3 years later.
· Extracurricular activities (highlight notable undergraduate and post-undergraduate ones):
- Helped manage several family businesses since I was 14. Helped opening online delivery for family restaurant and management online pages. Helped create online website for family wholesale store and manage the accounting of the business.
- Leader of a semi-professional gaming team in College, ranked top 10 teams in Spain.
- Volunteering in local pet shelters, helping to collect food and save abandoned dogs and cats.
- Volunteered in recollecting trash in Barcelona beaches.
- Teached English and Spanish in villages in China.
- Traveled +15 countries on three different continents.
- Hobbies: Dogs, basketball, reading online news, investing, travel.
- Languages: Chinese, Spanish, English and Catalan.
· Post-MBA goals:
Venture Capital or Startup/FAANG, mostly focused on working in projects that can considerably have a positive social impact while generating profits. My main goal would be to work in a project that I can feel passionate as it delivers value to the society, improving the life of the people. Looking for MBA for a change in career and life path as currently I feel like that corporate industry (consultant, PE, etc.) are too money focused and doesn’t bring actual value to the society by any means.
· Target schools: Stanford, MIT, Wharton, Kellog, Berkley, Insead.
· Other information relevant to your profile:
- First generation student (parents were immigrants with no studies).
- Active business angel in the Spanish ecosystem. Invested in 3 startups since 2016, with 1 successful exit and currently with one startup in the portfolio. Participates in several startup events in Barcelona (MWC, etc.).
- Member of a Spanish association of young professionals and entrepreneurs in which we regularly meet with relevant persons of the Spanish economy (C-suite execuives of top 35 companies in Spain, successful entrepreneurs, etc.) to discuss their career history, goals an tips for the young professionals.
I'm not sure if i missed something...please let me know!
Many thanks in advance
