Thanks, cxa0897!

Yes, I'm definitely considering applying to McCombs/Rice. To give you a little background on myself, I initially struggled with the risk/reward of Full-Time vs. Part-Time programs and the idea of leaving two year's salary on the table. I set the goal for myself that I would shoot for a Top 10 FT program. I feel like a Top 10 FT program would give me an immeasurably valuable network, outfit me with the skills to continue on with my current career path, and also give me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change career paths post-MBA, which is something that I'm very interested in. I have enjoyed the Energy industry as a whole, but I've seen firsthand how frustrating it can be to base your entire business around a constantly shifting commodity price (oil). My fear with McCombs/Rice is that my network/opportunities would be limited to the Energy industry, which would defeat my intent of pursuing a FT program over a PT program.

Certainly fair that you are looking at it that way. Fuqua is probably a real solid bet then as a safety/target and I'd suggest throwing in an app there. Just outside the top 10 so "better" network and prestige, more of an alternative/sustainable energy vibe there, and they even have an energy finance track which would open more doors if you wanted to pivot into another role in the field. Not quite the same presence in the industry yet, but a great program none the less. Best of luck, it seems like you have a solid game plan already, and its just a matter of execution

Absolutely. Fuqua, along with a few other schools just outside the Top 10, is definitely on my radar as a target school. Thanks, cxa0897.
