29 year old male from US
Work experience
Military Officer - 7 years
Always managed large teams (30-60) or been in ops roles
Currently in a fast paced training environment, directly in charge of training ~2000 personnel annually with a team of 30 experienced instructors.
Deployed to combat zones.
Managed over $30M in equipment and vehicles and coordinated their movement spread across several countries on last deployment.
Education
Undergraduate degree in business management from large state university
3.4 GPA
Test Scores
GMAT: 730 - Q49, V41, IR4 (a little worried about IR), AWA 6
- I am considering retaking to improve score as well as IR score.
Additional information
• Volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters - mentoring a young man from a troubled home.
• Not much EC to note after undergrad due to work tempo.
Post MBA Goal
Tech PM or possibly consulting
Target schools
Booth, Kellog, MIT, Duke, Ross, Darden
My 'angle' is that my undergrad is slightly lackluster but I found my work ethic and drive in the military and that enabled my GMAT score while working ~80 hours a week

You are a great fit for Ross, Darden and Fuqua. MIT, Booth and Kellogg are still in your reach but I would definitely classify them as reach schools.
I'm not sure I would focus so much on retaking the GMAT. It's a fine score and the IR isn't going to be the make-or-break you think it will be in this process. Instead, I'd think about improving your extracurricular involvement between now and then.
I am also not confident that this angle you are illustrating is actually all that unique. I'm not doubting it but you need to go a layer or two deeper since many candidate in your cohort can probably claim the same.
Lastly, I would also rethink your career goals. They aren't terribly unique. Think more creatively about what you can achieve in the long run to inspire the AdCom!
