PROJECT GMAT™: 2021-2022
Hello, everyone. I am writing today to kick off what I hope will be a fun and ongoing competition for the GMAT Club community. I have had it in mind recently to subject myself to the GMAT™ in its more modern, post-2018 form. As a tutor, I feel that I can better serve my clients if I teach to the test as it exists now, not to mention that I would like to see just how high I might be able to climb. The release of the OG 2022, disappointing though it may be that no new questions were unveiled, can serve as a timestamp for the 2021-2022 "season," as it were. I am hoping that both Experts and non-Experts alike will be interested in not only sitting in the hot seat (again), but also providing voluntary information for performance benchmarking. To this end,
bb has helped me create
a Google Form that will automatically populate a spreadsheet embedded at the bottom of this post.
You may provide any of the following information, but do so only after you have completed the actual exam, since you cannot edit your responses:
- User Name
- Raw Score
- Prep Duration
- GMAT™ Resources
- Non-GMAT™ Resources
- Hours
- GMAT Prep scores (1-6)
- GMAT™ Score
Fill Out the FormTo be sure, I love data. I used to compete in a "super league" of international fantasy football (i.e. soccer) members, where my name was Data Head. I can add as much information as the community would like to track: OG accuracy on different levels of questions, member country (sort of like the Olympics), or even performance on third-party mocks. I am open to suggestions, and I could see the competition taking off if we make it more fun.
Speaking of fun, I would like to create a few tables to track Top 10 performances across a variety of categories: Highest Total Score, Most Improved Score, Best Scores in Europe, Asia, America, whatever, maybe even Top Scores of [fill in the month].
As long as you plan on sitting for the GMAT™
before the next OG is released, you can join the competition at any time. By analyzing these data, I hope to provide further insights into optimizing GMAT™ preparation. Whatever your goals may be, you can contribute to the project and make GMAT Club just that much better.
If you are interested, just leave a response. I will add names to the spreadsheet and take suggestions on how to make this project
FUN. To get the ball rolling, I have filled in my own name and raw score on the spreadsheet. (Back in 2014 when I worked at a tutoring center, my boss asked me if I could help someone with GMAT™ preparation. I took a diagnostic test and was shattered when I earned a 660. Nevertheless, I thumbed through the OG he lent me and took a different practice test nine days later: 740. I took the assignment and have never looked back.)
Good luck with your studies, everyone.
