Thanks Rich.
I typically study 1-3 hours on weekdays and 3-5 hours on weekends.
I will be taking the test at a test center.
And I will be applying for full time MBA program at top schools in Europe

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a GMAT tutor which can help me boost my score from 2 years ago -650 (V35,Q46)- to 700+. For the last 4-5 months, I have used Kaplan for quant concepts problems, MGMAT for verbal concepts and OG for problems. However, I still don't see any improvement in my score. My GMAT Prep CAT 1 (May 2020) and CAT 2 (June 2020) scores are 620 (V30, Q45) and 640 (V31, Q47) respectively. I have since started using resources on GMATclub and videos available on YT to help me improve my verbal strategy and I moved my test date to October. Now I am considering taking a GMAT course and I am looking for suggestions.

I see that empowerGMAT and TTP get lot of endorsement on Reddit and GMATclub. Which of these courses would you suggest to a re-taker? And has anyone seen serious improvements in 2 months after enrolling in one of these courses? Can someone also please comment on what is taught in these two courses, how different they are, and do they use their own questions or OG questions?

I understand TTP is great for Quant, which I would need to improve if I am eyeing a 700 score, but I also want to get a decent verbal score. Even if I can afford to purchase the two courses, would I be able to complete Quant section from TTP and verbal from EMPOWER in under two months?

Thanks in advance for all your inputs!

Hi,

It is sad to hear that you could not improve your score even after putting in so much effort. Going for private tutoring is a good choice because I don’t think you want to take a chance this time. But before choosing, make sure you do a proper research and select the right one which helps in your overall improvement.

Before choosing a private tutoring course, ask yourself a question “What more does this course offer that the other tutoring courses don’t?” Most tutoring courses offer you a few one-on-one sessions with the tutors and a facility to contact the tutor to clarify any doubts. But is this really sufficient? A few reasons why students go for private tutoring are they would get:
  • Personal attention from the tutors
  • Guidance from the experts
  • Constant monitoring of their performance

That last point is something which is really important and if done properly will help students improve their score significantly. So, make sure the course you choose does all these things effectively, most importantly the last one.

If you are open to suggestions, I would recommend you to check the private tutoring course of GMATWhiz. We offer you a chance to work with highly experienced teachers at an affordable price of only $50/session (each session is of 1.5 hours duration). Our tutors have a minimum of 10 years teaching experience and we offer a hybrid learning experience where we combine the best of online learning (technology) with private tutoring. We use technology to do 3 things
  • Get you a personalized trackable study plan that adapts in real time
  • Track your performance on the portal against 20+ data points for each question.
  • Help you learn the basic concepts through video lesson, thereby saving the number of private tutoring hours you need. (these video lessons are created by the same experts who teach you)

The tutor uses these data points before each session to identify the gaps in your learning and create relevant content for discussion. Hence each session is 5 times more effective than those offered by other private tutors as you get pin-point advice on exact reasons behind your mistakes. As a result, you get the maximum output with minimum number of sessions.

I can arrange a free demo session if you want. This will help you understand how our tutors use a methodical way of teaching concepts. You can select a suitable slot for a free demo session using the below link.

Hi ns91,

If you could consistently put in that amount of study time, and study in the proper fashion, then I think that you would have a good chance of hitting 700+ within the next 2 months.

Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at our website (www.empowergmat.com) - and I bet after working through the first couple of Modules in our Course, you'll find the Quant section becomes a lot easier to deal with. I suggest that you take advantage of all of the options, then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget.

If you have any additional questions, then you can feel free to contact me directly at any time.

Rich
