Proof of medium of instruction for INSEAD application

Hi,

I'm in the process of applying to INSEAD. I studied in India. While the medium of instruction throughout was English, the transcripts do not state this explicitly. Do I need to get a document from the school and university certifying that the medium of instruction was English? What other option do I have besides appearing for an IELTS/TOEFL?

Hi  Swat1234 , in such cases it's always best to write to the admissions team in my opinion. Can never go wrong with that and you won't be left guessing

I asked the same to INSEAD, and they told me a letter of proof is needed. I reached out to my Uni’s alumni office and they very quickly provided the letter on official letterhead in pdf that I attached in the supporting documents section.

Hi! Thanks for the response. I still have one query though! If the Certificates are in English, do we still need to the letter of proof from the university?

I think so - my transcripts are all in English, but because it’s not in an English medium country (USA, UK, NZ, AUS), I was asked to provide the letter as well.

As long as it is not explicitly stated on the certificate that the medium of instruction is English, a letter validating the medium of instruction may be required. However, this is not a critical aspect of your application, and you can always validate your languages post admission before the start of the program. Hope this helps.

I agree with what's being said above. Though I would reiterate my earlier advice, it's always safe to write to the program and hear things from the horse's mouth. That way I feel there would be no scope for ambiguity
