I'm a final year Engineering Student from India preparing for the GMAT.I'm planning of taking up the exam sometime around Feb-March 2011 before i get my first job(around June 2011) to avoid the stress of preparing for the test as well a working at the same time.IS IT A WISE DECISION..???HOW MUCH MINIMUM WORK EX IS REQUIRED BY THE TOP MBA COLLEGES...??IS PREFERENCE GIVEN TO MORE RECENT MBA SCORES AS COMPARED TO THOSE TAKEN 4-5 YEARS AGO..??

All these stats are found on school websites, do some research.

To get you started, most schools require a minimum 2 years of work experience and will take GMAT scores up to 5 years old.
That said, most schools average 4-6 years of work experience.

since you are abt to begin ur career concentrate on quality of work..most of the schools look for minimum exp of 2 years...

Thanks a lot guys.I was in a dilema more about the ideal time to write the GMAT and the validity of value of the score after 5 years as the GMAT pattern would have changed by that time.Thanks for the advice. :)

Hi kartikbhat,

I recommend you take the GMAT before starting work as you will have more time to prepare. Your GMAT score carries for 5 years, so you do not need to apply to an MBA program directly after you take the test.
