the great people of GMAT Club.
I am filling in some application data and restructuring the CV. However, it is very hard for me. I operate a small business in a developing country, while I have also invested on some other start-ups along the way. Having been busy and working on a small firm where I did many of the things there, I did not have the time or reason to keep appropriate records of employees I had and have or formalize the businesses I have been working on. Some of the businesses have been successful and some have not. However, I am having a hard time generating proof for all my activities that I would want to show in CV and employment/extracurricular history in the application form.
Here are the specific questions I have:
1) I started another firm last year, however I did not incorporate it (register it with authorities) until this year on May. I can find proof that it's website was functional since august last year. I can even find proof of the firm's logo showing on events we were sponsoring. Also, I do have emails with signature that I used to talk to clients with. However, it's business activity (revenue, and expenses went either through my other firm or were informal paid in cash and such as almost all small businesses activity in my country). How do I put this on CV and employment history? Date of incorporation only or from August last year. Also for revenue and employees since I cannot provide official documents proof of any, can I list any? If accepted and on background check I can certainly show work done through that firm and can also get clients to show how much we charged for it. I can also get employees to write emails stating that they were paid in cash. Please help. Thanks.
2) I opened a start up, registered it with authorities and I even received some grant money for it. But, it never generated any revenue. This was two years ago. The problem is that I never went to authorities to close the business. So, how do I put this on the employment history in application. I assume I must provide proof of me ever leaving the firm.
3) Right now, in the first business of mine which is registered appropriately 5 years ago, I employee 13 people, however I really only pay income tax for 4 of them. This is mainly because much of the revenue comes in as cash as many of the business transactions on my country. It is extremely hard and say impossible for me to record all and request from clients to do the same. I do what I have to do to stay in business. What do I report on my CV, interview and elsewhere in the application? The real revenue and real number of people I hire? or just what I can provide official proof for (bank statements, invoices, tax reports etc)?
4) Extracurricular activities question. Again, it is very hard for me to find proof on almost any of this, but the activities I did in my study abroad year and some international things I did. Here is an example, about three years ago I founded a small community service thing, which lasted for about a year. However, I can only find some social media activity about it, some emails where it is mentioned, maybe some confirmation of its existence and my role in it from some stakeholders, but that's about it. We never formalized it with authorities or did anything that could provide a document regarding it. So, do I mention this on the application? Will the proof I can find be enough for the background check?
5) I partnered with a firm and we developed an app just recently. App just launched and now we are working in its marketing. For marketing purposes we created a new developers account, so no-where but internal emails is my firm mentioned as partner in this endeavor. Again, I did not formalize the agreement on ownership of the app. I can of course get the partner on this, whose name also is not anywhere, to send an email confirming my ownership and role in it. However, I am not sure if that is enough for the background check proof needed. What do i do?
There are the questions. As, you can see, I am really in a bad position. I feel that I have I deserve to add everything I did in the application. I also feel that I should do it. However, I am really scared that it might jeopardize my application later once admitted. Please help. Thank you so much in advance.
